The look on his face when he realized they were back. And then as he let go of her hand. I felt for him and just wanted him to be happy again. Go back into the illusion if that's what it takes. I can sit through more episodes of them as long as they can be happy and carefree again

The actor did a good job here. To me the scene where they came back made up for the illusion episodes
