The over-exaggeration of the series makes it almost like the parody of Love in Sadness. Some parts are better than the Korean version, but the 2019 version is way more artistic with the paintings/ soundtrack/ art direction and the Korean FL looks kinder.

Last Friends, a 2008 drama series from Japan, if you're okay with the LGBT theme. ML holds FL captive, abuses her and is totally obsessed over her. He also threatens to kill himself and does illegal stuff to stop her from leaving. She tries to escape as well
