The last 2 eps kind of dragged a little bit. The reason to break up baffles me and that leads to the unconvincing "getting back together" scene. What's the point with the three years break?
So happy that this season got better TV ratings than the first season when you consider the fact that 2024 is the lowest point with TV viewers in Japan. Plus, more than 7 million views on TVer(streaming site) for the first 3 eps and more than 800,000 followings for Ossan's Love on TVer...These figures are incredible. None of other BLs have done that in Japan.
This season is miles better than the first season. They really put lots of efforts in everything. But MDL viewers here are still harsh on JP bls. Only 8.4? If it were the Thai version, it would already surpass 8.7 and above. By the way, these seasoned actors prove that they can easily make people ship different couples with amazing acting skills. I really want a full length special for that tragic story.
Jeez, it's like Taiwan has no good BL writers and directors now and they try to imitate what Thai BL did many years ago to attract fans with these stupid stories & tropes. It ain't gonna work with many good BL dramas from different countries coming out regularly.
I can't remember the last time I was drawn into a Thai BL like this. Bad Buddy was the last one I watched. I usually skipped them since Thai BL is a bunch of streamlined products that only focus on the fan service after the release. But one of my friends told me to watch this and boy ~ I'm not regretted. You can feel the whole staff really pours the hearts into this great work. It's not a perfect BL drama but it's definitely the best BL drama to me from 2023. Yes. It's that good.
The novel is much better if I'm being honest. I have no interest in the second couple and what Lin Pei Yu added to the plot did nothing for me. And the way she treated the main couple also bored me.
