Like many of the comments here, I'm going to have to agree that they really did overdo it with all the scandals and unnecessarily dragged the story towards the end (which in itself was slightly disappointing). But overall, I still really enjoyed it. Particularly the acting, which I thought was very well done.

Had to drop it as the story progressed because it started to get boring. I also detested the character of Geum Jan Di. She was so annoying it made the drama difficult to enjoy.

When I first started this drama, I surprised myself by actually taking a liking to it as I'm not really one for historical dramas. I was especially fond of the childhood actors and their characters. However, I found it difficult to continue with this drama after it made the adult transition. I didn't agree with the casting. It was as if the same characters had been replaced by completely new ones. Obviously, the new actors would have different portrayals especially since they've grown from children to adults but some were clearly a mismatch. Of course, there were also ones that suited very well like Kim Soo Hyun's King Lee Hwon but portrayals such as Han Ga In's Wol/Yeon Woo seemed weak to me. I also found her acting very poor. With what I personally regard to be a poor performance from the female lead, I found it really difficult to continue on with the drama.
