Have been watching like a crazy, 52 episodes in in just 3 days. Must say it has something that keeps you hooked,…
Though I liked the first half, I don't seem to like the way it's going forward. Honestly, I couldn't figure out if the Empress was evil or not until 25+ episodes but now it has been pretty predictable lately.
I really didn't like when the FL got together with 2ML, was hoping for something else. I think they didn't have enough screen time together to share such affection. The romance part seemed really unnecessary.
Just finished watching. Although, I watched continuously, I had many complaints and frustrations throughout the show. Not sure I'd say I like it.
I wouldn't say those are small details like; - The FL going to the brothel with sword and 20 strong men to get the ML. WTH - The FL going to Yangzhou as a male. I thought it was a mistake in subtitle translation, but she was supposedly dressed as a man, haha .. - The revival of FL. They showed her lying in the coffin and later said that his uncle brought her out of coffin from the burial, lol - The unusual time gaps (after the incident in Yangzhou, during the Dam building for Yellow River, the last episode, etc.) - The post-explanation of things that happened in the past - I really don't like post-explanation.
Furthermore, I found the part immediately after the incident very unrealistic and unnatural. Like they just had a disaster in their family and the leads were all lovey-dovey as if they forgot just what happened.
I also didn't like how it turned into a political drama from a regular slice of life drama. Needless to say, the flaws they always have in palace-based stories and how just "one single man" can overturn everything.
I must say it's one of the best Slice of life dramas out there. I don't know much about life during that period, felt annoyed at times, and had a lot of complaints throughout the show. Yet, I couldn't help myself wanting to watch it unfold like a crazy. The actors, all have played their role very well. I specially loved Sanli and Erqiang. I wished Yicheng and Nanfang had more screen time, but I know it's not a romance drama.
I kept pushing myself to continue watching it because I was seriously trying to kill time. Yet, I couldn't. I really don't understand the ratings for romance dramas or I'm probably emotionally unstable. Thanks for the review.
I was so enraged that I was about to write a review myself but your seems to fit all my angers & thoughts. They are just spot on. Thanks for the review.

I think I could go on.
