hi, can anyone tell me why shao shang and lou yao engagement is going to be broken?
Something along the lines of his previous fiance losing her family so SS breaks off the engagement with him so that he can marry his ex fiance otherwise she will have no one.
I read somewhere along the comments that there was a tower scene between LBY and CSS. Anyone who read the novel,…
Ok so I read it a while back so my memory is a bit fuzzy. But it's something along these lines: This happens during a hunting outing that the emperor holds. SS wanders off for some peace and quiet and enters this tower. Somehow LBY also ends up here and the scene you see in the trailer is him holding onto her as they dangle outside the tower hiding their identities from 2 people who entered the tower to talk about their plotting about something.... hahha sorry that's all my brain can remember right now.
the name 'lao tianjin' was brought up in ep. 30 and ep. 31. It is said that 10 years ago, Old Tianyi and Old Tianji…
I stand corrected, actually both were mentioned briefly in episode 2 at the restaurant by the story teller. However, I still choose to believe that there will be a way for them to extend his life, as we weren't explicitly told what these elders are capable of. The jade moon orchid is said to still grow if you give it qi every day and from what we saw, he didn't use the entire flower.
Hi all, long time lurker and first time poster. Really enjoyed reading everyone's banter, opinions and perspectives whilst I was watching the drama the first round as it was being aired. I found myself coming here pretty much every day to read everyone's thoughts!
Overall, I really enjoyed this drama and the cast all did a great job IMO especially our leads. YY and ZLS did not disappoint in their respective roles and I can't see anyone else who can bring BFX and HFX to life the way they did. I read the novel first whilst waiting for the drama to air and really loved that all the female characters were strong, independent and intelligent - equals to their male counter parts which found really refreshing especially for wuxia genre. Glad to see that this was also translated through into the drama.
I think that too many people kept trying to draw parallels between the drama and the novel -yes it is based on the novel but the author did say that she wasn't involved so we really need to treat it as its own piece of work.
I wish they would have broken it into two parts - would have loved to see more of what happened in between the time skip towards the end of the drama - unfortunate for us that China introduced the 40 episode ban. Pacing wise, I actually didn't mind it, and having watched it again without having to wait for episodes also changes how I initially perceived the pacing.
Can I just say that their relationship has got to be the most healthy and beautifully depicted in all of drama land? We don't get to see this much so it's something worth raving about. No misunderstandings, they communicated with each other, respected each other and supported each other no matter what. They make up for each other's weaknesses and together are a force to be reckoned with. Sure, they kept their identities secret from one another but there was good reason why and when they both figured out who the other was, they were able to understand why and didn't make a huge fuss out of it.
In regards to the ending, bittersweet indeed but I like to think of it as open ended - they're both incredibly intelligent and resourceful, who is to say they don't find a way to extend his life? We never even heard of 'Lao Tian Ji' and his skill to bring someone back from the dead by exchanging ones life years. I am sure that there is some other wise old man or woman who can help - besides who wouldn't given their amazing reputation and what they have done for the world?
Sorry for the long post but just wanted to share my thoughts, see you all in another thread.
