Not me finding out that the supposed second couple is Huo Ying and the crown prince and not the doctor after shipping wrong for 4 episodes... 🤡 I felt something with the order of the characters in the intro since the first episode and I can feel Huo Ying's homosexual gaze towards the prince but I decided to ignore it for my own stupid sake cause boy you deserve better 😭
btw, started this one without any prior knowledge about the story or the characters and I'm loving it, the chemistry of the main couple = chef kiss 💖
Over the past 10 weeks, I've seen a lot of people saying they didn't like this series, didn't see the chemistry between the leads, or that the pacing was too slow... and I kind of understand, even though this is one of my favorite ongoing BL series. Yes, the pacing is slow, and sometimes it feels like Jom and Yo don't have any incredibly romantic moments like other BL couples. But I love that.
I love how their relationship developed slowly and naturally. They're both in very different positions, have had very different lives and different worldviews. Besides the age gap, of course. Jom is a very responsible person, while Yotin was just a boy when they first met. And I loved seeing how, little by little, someone as unreliable as Yotin became a safe place for someone as strict as Jom. We can see this in the details, episode by episode. Little by little, we saw Jom trust Yo, we saw Jom lean on him, share his insecurities with him, his responsibilities, his weaknesses... and begin to worry and care for him more than anyone else. We also saw Yo become more trustworthy, serious and dependable, without losing his playful nature. I feel like they balance each other very well, and I love that!
I also like how the series took its time to develop the characters' individual issues before making them a couple. Yotin always believed he liked only women, and Jom isn't the type of person who would easily fall for someone under his care. So, of course, it took a while for us to see them clearly falling for each other, but you can see the feeling of trust, affection and care slowly blossoming, before it becomes love. It was wonderful to see Yo realize his feelings and embrace them last episode, as well as to see Jom clarify everything between them before taking the next step. All the issues Jom raised in this episode were valid and important, especially when you're about to be in a relationship with someone younger, and Yotin's confidence was equally important, considering all of Jom's insecurities and past traumas.
I'm a sucker for age gap romances when it's well done and both are adults, and My Sweetheart Jom won my heart by taking its time and raising important topics, developing the protagonists' relationship slowly and naturally and carefully. It took me a while to see the chemistry between them? Yeah, but I believe that's because for a long time neither of them saw each other romantically. Now that they've finally accepted their feelings, I feel like I'm floating just as Yotin every time they smile at each other HAHAHAHA They might not have that huge chemistry we often see in other series, but there's a certain charm in the way they seem naturally cute and beautiful together <3

If you want to relive arcarm and yothagun stories, reading all the books would be nice. But it's not necessary if you just want to know their story, I didn't finish either of the first two books, but was able to enjoy faifahwine story without any problem (and I love them) 💖

OMG YES! I also love this so much!! Some people might find Po too passive, but I don't see it that way, he's just allowing Thame to experience all the feelings of first love in his own way, as you pointed out. It reminds me of the scene where Thame tells Po not to adjust to his pace, that he would do that, and then Po suggests that the two of them could find a balance. That's exactly what they're doing: finding a comfortable pace together, for both of them, adjusting to each other in such a healthy way.
About Thame's jealousy, I like it. I usually don't like characters who are too jealous, but in his case it's actually good because he seems way too perfect sometimes. He always handles everything so well, but he can also be so childish when he's jealous, it's funny and makes him more human to me. Po is his first love and it's cute to see how he deals with feelings that are totally new to him, including jealousy. But the main reason I don't mind it is because he never made Po feel uncomfortable. He was jealous of Jun, but he never tried to get in their way or take it out on Po. On the contrary, even though he was pissed off seeing them together, he was still so kind to Po (and I love him for that!!). And the same goes for Earn. Yes, he was childish and over the top for some, but he also told Po that he wasn't mad at him, but mad because he was jealous (he's so direct and sincere and CUTE TT). I think in Earn's case, besides jealousy, Thame hates him (we all do), not only because he's Po's ex, but because Thame knows Earn hurt Po a lot. Thame cares a lot about Po's feelings and if Po wasn't ready to let go of his ex's stuff, I feel like he would have realized it and handled it differently. Thame continues to be a green flag for me! Po seemed so happy watching him be ridiculously jealous, I'm pretty sure he loves that about Thame more than I do and was having fun haha
I always see people talking about Thame and freaking out over him (and I totally get that!!!!), but can we also talk about Po? He just has my heart! Yes, I love Thame, I love MARS and I love Baifern, but Po manages to be my favorite out of all these characters that I love so much because he's too good to be true? He's so traumatized and yet he's still so genuinely good that I just want to protect him at all costs Yes, Thame tried really hard to get MARS back together, but I feel like none of this would be possible without Po and that we don't talk enough about it. If it weren't for the fact that he's so sensitive to people around him, if he hadn't tried to understand Thame even though they're on different sides of the same coin, if he hadn't realized MARS's true feelings, read Jun's intentions, understood Nano's fears... I just love how he can perceive people around him and genuinely care about them. (I get why Thame is so obsessed with him like fr)
His capacity to care so much for others might sound like a flaw, since Earn used it to manipulate him in the past, but I consider it a strength. It's what makes him so precious to me (+ his babygirl coded personality). He loves Thame, and would do anything for him, but he also cares about MARS and is genuinely happy to see them happy as a group (he didn't even was mad about his job when the first song was stolen, he was just worried about MARS istg he looks so happy for their music show win TT). I wish he could care about his own happiness as much as he does for people he loves.
I haven't read the novel and I've been running from spoilers like the Devil runs from the cross, but I think at this point it's pretty obvious that they're going to get found out and that Po will break up with Thame to protect him and MARS (kinda expected from a romance about an idol) This is so Po coded that I already feel the pain in advance. I just hope that, at least when that time comes, he thinks about himself a little and tells Baifern the truth instead of dealing with it all alone, because it hurts me to think that Thame will at least have MARS to comfort him, while Po doesn't even share their relationship with his best friend to protect Thame.
I could write a bible about how much I adore Po and how he deserves more than that shitty world (and how much I hate Earn and love how important Thame has been to Po and vice versa), but I'll stop here and just say that Est is doing an incredible job as Po. I've known him since LBC and have followed him from afar since then, but never to the point of considering myself a fan. I was happy for him when the series was announced and I totally got hooked from the first episode, he can express himself very well with his eyes, without too explicit expressions, and I think that fits perfectly with Po's personality. For me, he served his performance in every scene and I feel proud of him and all the success he has achieved (probably I'm a fan rn cause I'm soooooo happy for him!). He definitely deserves it and I will be here supporting him in the future.
All my love also goes to Thame/William, MARS/LYKN. I've been obsessed with all of them, the characters, the actors and the groups, but I wanted to emphasize Po/Est because I feel like we don't talk enough about them. 💖
