After seeing the movie "Kokuhou" recently, I started to watch this drama just for Yokohama Ryusei. I'm only close to the end of the first episode. It's quite silly and over the top and you can tell it's manga adaption (of probably a mediocre josei manga.) Still it has some enjoyable moments. The one thing that strikes me is it seems to have lifted a lot of the plot from Gokusen, the manga (not the TV drama.)

Title Shogun Spoiler
So, in episode 10, when John Blackthorne seems to be an old man in England, dying in bed with his grandchildren in the room and clutching Mariko's crucifix, that's just a dream he has, after he survives the explosion in the dozo in Osaka Castle, right? The reality is he can't easily return to England because his ship was burned and Mariko's crucifix was intentionally dropped in the sea by him shortly after her death. Also, did anyone else think it was implied that Fujii-sama and Anjin would shortly become an actual couple in the future?

Any news when s2? 2026?
I believe it's being written as I write. Shooting is supposed to begin late 2025. This time the writers are starting from scratch since the events of the novel were used up in the first series.

Live Action makes a very strong damage control and now Aqua literally becomes "I love to live" dude who, being…
Interesting. Thanks for the reply. I think the original ending (painful though it was) was true to Aka's intentions from the beginning. I was like "what!" in the cinema! Then I went back to read the manga when I got home. (Aqua's body is definitely there in a coffin at the funeral.) Also I read somewhere Mengo is going to publish her own doujinshi, which also might have a different, happier ending.

I couldn't follow the events at the ending (which unfolds differently from the manga although it still has Aqua and Kamiki drowning together.) Did Kamiki stab Aqua during the theatre fire? How was he, injured, able to follow Kamiki from the theatre carpark to that distant waterfront rooftop location? Was there meant to have been a GPS tracker on Ruby?

I was just now (January 2025) reading about this interesting-sounding drama in a Tokyo Sports WEB article published on Yahoo.jp. Apparently after broadcast it was revealed that the screenwriter, who wrote under a pen name, had worked as a producer for Fuji TV. Some of the storyline hints at the Fuji TV/Nakai scandal that is currently unfolding.

Just finished episode 6. I don't hate this adaption but the Tokyo Blade TV drama arc is very different from the manga. Why did they have to cut Melt out from the Tokyo Blade cast? Melt is my favourite character.

The producer said in an interview there’s plans to screen the movie in around 50 countries after the Japan release,…
It's coming to Sydney.

Damn... Nino being Kamiki means I need to watch this I guess. Idk if I need to spoiler this tho because it's been…
I started watching it purely because Nino is going to be Kamiki and I'm planning to see the movie when it comes out in my country. I already read the wonderful manga and watched the anime. I had low expectation of the drama, but I'm really enjoying it. Cast are all great.

I would say it's quite shallow as a Jmovie but nevertheless, I loved it, because you always learn something new…
11 years later I'm reading this comment, and I want to agree. Regardless of how mediocre they are, you really DO always learn something new in Jdrama!

This drama is spectacular if only you can able to put up with Masahiro Higashide...
Au contraire he's definitely one of the attractions.

I'm watching this right now on myasian something something. Why is the subtitled English translation so off? Why do the subtitles say cowboy for host? Also honeytrap is an English word. Pilot is an English word. Why are they unnecessarily translated into different, wrong words. It's very odd.

He's an ex-Johnny's Junior. Apparently he was a close comrade of Meme back when they were both members of the now disbanded group Uchuu Six.

What do others think is the significance of Minato's father having died in car accident with another woman? Is it to show that Minato knows his father isn't some saintly figure (which is why he's reluctant to speak to his urn on the butsudan)? Or that, although his mother wants him to marry, he already understands his parents marriage was a sham?

Is this bl or what? Should I watch it? I'm not into bl things
Not really. Yeah I would. Calling it BL is a stretch. It's just an interesting well-told story.

And the review about screamers really settled into my brain because I have had a FASCINATION with Japanese Screamers…
Can you define Japanese Screamers? Is that that odd acting style when a young guy goes on a sudden angry yelling rant and the voice changes to being higher pitched and hoarse? (I've seen a few scenes like this but the main one that comes to mind is Shin Sawada's big rant standing in the river in the first Gokusen.)

Why does every hot japanese guy star in kamen rider ? Is it like a hot guy cult or something?
Based pattern-noticer.
