Title Love and Destiny Spoiler
Why would you root for Ling XI and Jing Xiu's love. He's like a creepy uncle that try to have a private time with…
i mean tbh JC isn't that much better. if anything, he's probably way older than JX if you want to talk about the age gap. JC also literally saw her as a baby just like LX did, so I dont think these are comparable points between the two male leads. JX is a lot more expressive about his feelings and gratitude towards LX, and i also feel like LX learns and grows a lot more as a person than when she was around JC, who mostly either ignored or coddled her from the truth (so far) lol.

Title Love and Destiny Spoiler
I'm dropping this here to help everyone get over the last 2 days of our leads not together. I need to see all…
i actually really enjoy these recent episodes with just LX's time as a human, learning how to take care of herself and developing as a character. i feel like all the past episodes when she was with JC got old really fast because she was always so dependent and filled with naive love, and not really thinking through the actions she chooses. it's rather refreshing to see her getting acquainted with other important characters of the show, such as JX and her little monster pet, and becoming more mature as a person.

after watching episode 33, I must say i like the heavenly emperor in this drama a lot more than the emperor in ten miles of peach blossom. This emperor is truly kindhearted and tries to do what is right by assisting Jiu Chen's efforts to save ling xi, unlike the ten miles of peach blossom emperor, who was the puppet master behind maybe unfortunate events due to his pride and stubbornness

Title Go Go Squid!
I prefer historical Chinese dramas as well and I did not like this drama. Maybe it's because I like watching something…
ill try scarlet heart then. I have heard about it here and there for quite a while now, but because it's kind of like a go back in time sort of historical drama it made me wanted to avoid it.
haha I tried the Legends and it was fairly alright at the beginning but i gave up quickly when i heard it has bad ending.
I'll definitely watch Nirvana in Fire someday. it just seems really long winded and suitable for cold winter days with some hotpot to warm the body.

legend of concubine zhen huan, ten miles of peach blossom, story of ming lan, and story of yanxi palace are all my favorites. I have somewhat mixed feelings about, but still really like legend of lu zhen and ashes of love. currently watching love and destiny, also have mixed feelings.

for real? the only modern chinese show i have ever liked was love o2o, and that was because both the leads were very good looking and mature college students. there were no major plot devices that included misunderstandings, shouting matches and break-ups, which i super hate and find really unnecessary and dramatic in a show. does this show have those elements?

Title Go Go Squid! Spoiler
dont usually watch modern Chinese shows because I prefer historical chinese costumes, but I heard really good things about this one so decided to give it a try. Currently on episode 2 and man am I disappointed with the main female lead. not only is she annoying with the constant spam to the main male lead, she's really childish and immature. she had the perfect opportunity with what she believed was the male lead's in-game character AND a high level account from relative's friend, and during all that time of waiting for the male lead (turned out to be male lead's disciple) to add her back, she didn't bother to practice and get familiar with this game she has never played before? on top of her when she died in-game she threw a tantrum with her relative? jeez really dont like this female lead. someone please tell me it gets better! (no spoilers plz :) )

On The Story of Ming Lan Mar 2, 2019
one of the most excellent shows I have seen in my life, period. No American, European or East Asian show I have ever watched measure up to "Ming Lan". Every single one of the 73 episodes were used effectively, the story and plot twists grounded completely in reality and believable to the viewers, and the character development and details are unbelievable. The viewers are drawn into the story, and made to care deeply for every single characters in this show, whether that's hate, love, pity or sadness. Every monologue, every argument, every declaration by any character in the show is impactful, significant and not meant to pad run time at all. The actors and actresses are extremely great in their roles, and made me angry/ecstatic/bawling my eyes out every single episode. What a beautiful, wonderful, and once-in-a-lifetime show. I salute everyone involved with the production of this show, including the actor/actresses and director, for doing such a tremendous job. The 73 episodes flew by, leaving me satisfied and wanting more every single episode. Highly, highly, highly recommend for those who have the patience to watch a beautifully developed, mature historical romance.
