This miniseries broke my heart while also soothing and warming it in the softest way. The characters are lovely and the casting is on point (even if the actor who played Mike was very much not Canadian, he was the perfect Mike, what a find!). It's such a good story about family and the rewards of being kind and accepting.

This show has me in a death grip. I’m enjoying it so much but also I low key feel like I’m bleeding out anytime I think about it (which is most of the time.) How do I wait a week for more story? And then I have to wait AGAIN?! I’m going to be a nervous wreck.

I’m so excited for this one, despite not knowing a damn thing about it. Can’t wait!!!

Title GAP
Ppl complain bout minor issues of characters and give low ratings. Back then we had no gls to complain either:/…
Yes, this!
I’ve been watching Thai tv since I was a kid and Thai bl since 2016, so maybe I’m more accustomed to the story tropes then some viewers, but I find Gap so impressive as a first offering. Like, I was expecting the first full length Thai gl to have serious growing pains, like bl did back in the day, but I think Gap is on par with where the average bl is in 2022. I’ve watched some desperately cobbled together bl in my time, and been grateful for it.😂 I once watched a 20 episode long advertisement for a grocery store disguised as a bl (and again, I was so grateful for it.) Some early bl plots were based on nothing more substantial then, “some strangers think it would be hot if these two guys dated, so after no-homo-ing for a bit they did.” The average Thai bl/ql’s strength has never been plot. Gap has a plot, quirky unique characters, and is trying to tell a fun story! And it’s the first of its kind! Im still so flabbergasted by this, I was expecting early gl to be cookie-cutter characters and hand holding at best.

Sorry, I’m writing all this to say I watched bl for years with love in my heart (aka rose tinted glasses), because I’m a massive lesbian and I love seeing stories with lgbt+ main characters. With that same perspective I am blown away by how well done Gap is. GL/QL as a genre is only going to grow and get even better from here with lot of support.

Ngl irl shipping really creeps me out, so when I started this series I was prepared to drop it and blame no one but myself if I didn’t like it. I actually found most of the show really watchable and fun. I adored all the characters, it was quite funny, and the group of friends was delightful to watch. Even though I don’t understand irl shipping, I thought it portrayed the culture around it in a very sympathetic light and showed the difference between fans that implement basic boundaries and those who have no respect.

In my ideal version, Namwah would have just been an especially devoted fan of Maipai, not shipping him with another random celeb. And when she became the band’s PR Manager she could just said, “you guys are charming idiots we need to leverage your goofy friendship to make fun content for the band’s socials,” rather then shipping her real life friends, and the plot would have been the exact same. But they did a good job of telling the shipping story, it’s just not my cup of tea, even with good boundaries.

At first I thought it would be fun fluffy rewatch material. But after the reveal of who the stalker was I’m not sure if I’ll enjoy a lot of the episodes the same way I did the first time. I respect the lesson they were trying to teach, but it does drastically change the tone of the show for me, when I think back on it knowing what I do now.

(Also I was happy with the Maito/Shogun/Green outcome, but I think Maito and Green deserved to have a few more scenes to talk out their feelings since they were such good friends.)

I loved every second of this show. It was quiet, felt authentically lesbian, focused on community, and the relationships between all of the characters were just so charming. I’d watch a whole other season of these characters just hanging out in their bar.

Dead dove, do not eat.

It’s a beautifully made show about grief and loss that ultimately ends sadly. And that isn’t a spoiler, the show never tricks you into thinking otherwise, it’s right there in the title. I do not regret watching it and it will stay with me for a long time. But if you suspect this kind of story isn’t for you please trust that instinct, skip it, and take care of yourselves. <3

I’m really enjoying this show and the characters, which is a surprise! I don’t usually get into university dramas and this one has all the usual tropes of the genre. But for some reason instead of rolling my eyes at the tropes I’m happily vibing with this show. Maybe it’s because I already know the plot?

I just think that they did Vegas wrong with that 70's suit at the end! I mean they should have just left him in…
Valid point! 😂 But sometimes the gay fashion experience is wearing something atrocious just because you can. Power move.

I hope the wardrobe department knows that they have nearly every lesbian watching this clamouring to know where Vegas gets his shirts.

What makes this drama special:
1. Mork’s dimples
2. Mork’s friends
3. Mork’s uncles
4. The setting
5. They have grown-up problems
It’s so sweet and often very quiet, in the best way.
