Like everyone says, it's mediocre overall. Most of the stories are poorly written/paced except one or two that you'll like depending on your taste. But the wardrobe department was who stole my heart and the main reason I kept watching. <3
I really wanted to like this because of the setting and premise, but I struggled with the slapstick comedy aspect of the first half of the series. That's not to say it's badly done, it's just that style of humour isn't funny to me, in fact it's painful, and as a result I watched the first half by using the skip button and reading the occasional subtitle... But I did keep watching and I enjoyed the plot in the second half. Ironically Shao Fei calms down his whole deal after the main relationship develops. I think I could have handled his awkwardness better if the brunt of it had been directed at Tang Yi once they'd gotten to know one another and Tang Yi had sort of "signed up for this" instead of being some guy Shao Fei's illegally stalking. But I'd definitely watch the second half again and just pretend that I know how they got to that point... Painfully awkward people deserve love too. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ If you watch the first episode and do not mind the style of humour then I think you'll have fun with the whole series.
It's available with a subscription on the Channel 3 official website, but I wasn't able to subscribe in my country.
Any Asian TV streaming site should have the uncut version. Kissasian for example. Just go equipped with some decent adblock. And if you like it try and support the YouTube version if possible.
I'm really enjoying this so far. I like when characters get to put their education/talents/interest to good use in the story and all of the characters do, it's cute. And the wardrobe and set design are so well done.
Please watch the uncut version though, the cut version is missing a lot of scenes that give context to the story. I'd suggest watching it less than legally and playing the cut YouTube version on mute in the background to support the show.
So I know this isn't relevant to anything anyone cares about, but Tan's brother hiding condoms in a lamp has been haunting me since I finished that episode... I'm not mad that Tan found out about Pued's hiding spot in a goofy/sibling kind of way rather than a super serious "I'm involved in shady stuff so I keep a fake passport or something hidden here." But the logic is sending me. He doesn't want the women he brings home to know he's a playboy. Okay. But what would be worse, opening a drawer and the woman accidently seeing the bulk variety pack of condoms he has in there, or having a condom ready but it breaks when the packaging is opened so the woman has to watch as Pued gets up, unscrews the lamp shade, rifles around in a bag, reassembles the lamp, and returns with a replacement condom...? That would certainly be a memorable one night stand.
I think the rating is kind of unfairly low. Yes, it's barely a show. Yes, there is no plot. Yes, the title sequence is longer than the episode. But if you go in not expecting more than that it's really cute and the production is wonderful. I didn't even think that it was that confusing, just remember one of the characters is eccentric, talks a lot of BS, and there is no plot. Obviously I want to see actual GL series with plot, but I don't want to punish this show for not being that.
