I think it's just 2 different styles. I liked this BL more than Journey to Killing you for example, this one felt more grounded to me so I liked it whereas Journey to killing you, from what I remember, I felt like not every actions made sense to me. Sometimes I think JBL can be bland too, but this one was fine for me (for chill binge watching at least, I didn't want to watch it while it was ongoing)

I was also a bit taken aback when they mentioned the last timeline without saying much but then I figured maybe it's just because Khemjira is the last of his family. His mom already died, his dad doesn't count because I guess marriage doesn't count, and he doesn't have any sibling or children to keep the family line going. To be honest, CC mostly ignores her, the only time he "doesn't", it's fake and just for teasing. I believe the only time she is prioritized over WSW is in this episode, and tbh I don't really understand why except to move along the plot where she tries to kill the snake lol because WSW needs to plant the poison just before YY comes so that it can look like it comes from her
