It is a bit slow and not very addictive, but enjoyable. Because of this I finished it comparatively slow. While most complain about final 7 episodes, I felt it became more interesting in the final episodes. The bonding between the leads too grow deeper in the final episodes. I did not find the ending very tragic as well.
Another thing I liked about the show is there was no too much white make-up or cringey scenes. I found it different from other c-dramas I have watched. Though simple, I felt the quality of this show is better. Good direction and the setting.
I thought of watching this drama because of its poster. I really liked the art direction. Also, this is my first time watching Ren Jia Lun, I liked his voice.
About the romance part, I don't think the problem is with the show but the English title they chose for the show as for the most part of the show there is no romance, it is only towards the end you will get to see their bonding. So I think if one watches it for romance as the title promises, they will be disappointed. Maybe they should have chosen another title, the Chinese title is different I think?
I still don't understand why jiang ting's action is justifiable defence but not li mufang's?
One thing you can notice is that there was radio playing after she was released in which you can hear about woman protecting themselves and setting an example. While in Li Mufeng's case the old prosecutor can be seen saying it could set a bad example even though it was a justifiable/ special defence. He is not a woman and he is a teenager, that might explain.
Another point I think is the woman prosecutor itself. This could be seen as boosting her image because it means she didn't show any grudge towards Jiang Tiang. But there is another question, they (Jiang Tiang and Mei Zheng) knew he might come to harm her, if they knew prior which means they were waiting for it to happen though it did not go as they have planned. They were planning to put cctv to show it as an evidence. But her body had enough evidence of injury caused by him. What was stopping them from complaining about him instead of waiting a chance to kill him. Either writer missed it here, or there is something more to it.
Did she hide the truth so that he got a lighter sentence? If she did there would have been a retrial to charge…
Cannot agree with this last sentence. Zhou Lin cannot be considered innocent though strings were pulled by someone else. He is still a bully who couldn't differentiate between right and wrong, sought wrong friendship for social acceptance.
It must be violence instead of sexual assault charges has she said it 14 years back, that's the only difference. Though the classroom power dynamics is very different 14 years before, if that was Mei Zheng's reason for silence, she still had proof of messages Zhang Yuan send. This story is very complicated. Can't say anything now because there are more things to be revealed about each character.
Probably because it is not going to give you an instant gratification, it is 40 ep long. It is a slow burn romance. But if you trust the journey it unveils a great romantic story.

.
I think I have developed a high tolerance level.
Felt like they tried to tell something through the story, they said it, but it was not convincing enough, not for me.
