yes since he did sword actions before in Duelist and JeonWoochi i guess he was already familiar with swordmanship. he said he trained for 5 months and that the director told him to do all action scenes by himself even if the scene had only his back showing

I watched this at London Korean Film Festival and i have to admit the plot was nothing new but overall the movie was amazing. so much action packed also had q&a session with director and Kang Dong Won where they revealed that Kang Dong Won did the all the actions by himself and didnt use any stunts.
