I’m writing this as I wait for season two...I am beyond excited to see these maximalists back on my screen (AND with two new gelboys :D).
This drama really stuck with me, largely due to the refreshing dynamics we don't often see in Thai BL, with fixed pairs and all. Also, nail art being the bridge between the four boys was such a creative choice. It's cool to see the how the aesthetic is built around it.
One thing I unexpectedly enjoyed was the way Gelboys constantly reminds you it's Gen Z. It takes advantage of the major role technology and social media has in our lives and relationships, and shows the weight a simple message, video, or story view has on a modern teens psyche. It does all this with great accuracy. Never does it feel overdone or a parody. I literally feel like I'm watching something from my own high school days play out LOL.
And of course, you can’t talk about Gelboys without mentioning how visually pleasing it is. The cinematography and artistic direction nail the Pinterest-esque aesthetic…just so beautiful and memorable.
I will be tuning in on August 8th to see all the new drama these boys have to stress me out❤️🩹
Because now the sequences got mixed up. It's not following the manhwa's sequence anymore. They also add unnecessary…
ah no wonder. i haven't read the manhwa but i think the best thing would've been to follow the original sequence...it's a shame. also, what are some unnecessary scenes they've added??
the first couple of episodes were promising, then i felt the story get really stuck in the recent episode (six) and with only four episodes left i’m worried how it will wrap up. the actors still do a great job though. overall it’s an okay drama, just don’t expect much from the revenge plot or the action/crime aspect of it.
