the ending is why it dropped. how could they fumble such a good story line with 3 mega strong demons dead, the ML locked away with a mirror, and the FL's time travel logic no longer making sense

DNF'd. I REALLY love Ryan Ding's acting but idk why the shows he ends up in rarely gain my attention. I made it to episode 9 and the show is NOT horrible, but its tone is a lot more intense and serious than I wanted (as compared to other espionage historical romances that I love). As with what most people are saying, 40 episodes was probably 5 too many as I am basically 20% in and there's just a lot of people and characters to keep track of outside the main leads.

I read a spoiler somewhere that Ryan kinda gets less screen time mid-way but already he's not in the show as much as you would expect of a male lead. What a waste because I could watch his acting for hours.

If its bittersweet I'll have to pass LOL Also, I understood it's "two worlds", I just meant can they have a HEA if they end up in their respective worlds again like with dream and book plots, but I appreciate the clarification & insight!

yeah that dinged the show for me a lot, at least pick one country and then stick to the biggest issue in that country rather than make the whole continent seem like a death trap. very racist tbh.

before i commit to this show, does that mean ML stays frozen and they dont have a "hea" as a couple?

I am wary of "just a dream" plots and "fell into a book" plot because that premise undoes the whole story. Wanted to ask if this show with the two worlds has a legit HEA?

He looks sooooo good in historical/fantasy shows. I tried to watch Moonlight and I really love him but his ~look~ just doesn't hit the same as in this and Melody of Golden Age....

i think the hype really ruined this show for me lool. i liked it but gave it an 8/10 in the end because i just expected *something* that never came 🥲

I would lean towards no, but there is a woman that comes into the picture near the end that was a classmate of the ML but less triangle and more drama lol

hmm i didn't see it as hypocritical because being a lawyer isn't always about winning the case in court, out-of court settlements can be considered a win too. iirc she also didn't *beg* him, she asked because she is doing it for the person she is representing who loved her husband while the ML is representing the mother who thinks her DIL was a gold digger (which in the end is proven to not be the case).

This show is NOT serious. There's some "serious topics" but they are mostly glossed over or discussed very loosely.

If we are comparing this to a show like First Frost or Hidden Love, it's production value is a lotttt lower. BUT, I think Zhang Ruo Nan is an excellent actress so she carried the show for me. Chen Xing Xu could be said to be a great actor since he plays the aloof and annoying boss pretty well. He's not the more green flag of MLs BUT he's nothing worse than a regular "domineering ML" who for all intents and purposes is proven to be harmless to the FML.

This is a great "fluff" show. There are some plot holes for sure but I have watched this show twice now bc it really is just a lighthearted and cute fluff of a show overall.
