Slowly completely going off k dramas, the cheating trope is getting pathetic now. Literally no need for it
The cheating part which was dealt quickly shows the character of the FL - kind and forgiving, even if she's an ex-convict and murderer. I don't think it's a waste of time or space.

Why could TTJ retain his will after transforming into Devil God, instead of being controlled? Was it because the man TTJ was still alive when he transformed? The early story was that if TTJ the man died, the devil bone would come alive and resurrect Devil God. Or was the reason given by TTJ himself, that he had gone through the life of a man, a God and an immortal and that he is not so easily "taken over"?

One point that vexes me and this could be a plot flaw: If Tan Tai Jin in the end could not be controlled by Demon King, e.g. allowing himself to be killed, why did he need to be killed? TTJ the demon lord could just keep the peace, since he was in control.

Not really. Don't get the jdoramas vibe at all - Junho's acting chops is far superior. I gave up on Japanese dramas long ago because of those idol-actors who could not act.
