a masterpiece is gen not enough to describe this film its literally beyond. imo leslie earned every praise cuz he embodied being a concubine so well that he is dieyi in my eyes. there was so much depth to the storytelling and historical depiction that i think chen kaige isnt appreciated enough for his work and role in making this film 50 years ahead of its time and still unreplicated

10/10 this was genuinely such a good movie considering we had 0 expectations cuz there wasnt a trailer on netflix so watched it cuz of dylan lol the cgi and fx were phenomenal a literal work of art u can see how much effort and money was put into it. i personally enjoyed the storyline and acting a lot it was very engaging and had a lot of twists. han yan's direction def improved in this feature
