Isn’t a person's family supposed to be informed? Don’t friends or HR notify them? Even if the parents are divorced, the dad is in Shanghai, just a stone’s throw away from Suzhou, and I believe her mom lives in Wuxi, which is even closer. Plus, her uncle lives in Nanjing, which is nearby as well. In this day of high-speed rail and fast transportation, it’s hard to believe they would struggle to travel.

People get hospitalized, and their families often fail to show up. Instead, only the lead character provides care, while friends drop by to discuss the lead's interests. Can writers inject a bit more realism into these scenarios? Then again, it’s just drama—perhaps realism isn't the priority after all.
