It's your usual high-school love plot with your also usual couple trope... and it's cute.
This series was rotting on my watchlist for a few months, I watched the first episode then I suddenly dropped it since I thought the plot was too boring and plain for me without flavor. Then a few months later, I had nothing to watch so I picked it up again and I realized that dropping this series would be my mistake.
Yes, it is your usual plot with your usual couple trope. Amagi with his expressive appearance yet overthinks due to his love for Takara and separation anxiety. On the other hand, Takara with his cold demeanor, however, behind it has an expressive way of his words and actions to reach and communicate with Amagi.
I would categorize this as a series that does not need thinking or "analyzation". It is a cute and straightforward love story with your usual misunderstanding that I can somehow say contributes to their growth as characters. Amagi overcame his "flight response" by facing his problems personally, and Takara, despite his image, communicates well with his feelings to Amagi. All these developments would not happen without two of the interesting characters in the series, namely Katori and Tanaka. It was a bit disappointing that their characters were not fleshed out well and it's understandable due to the number of episodes. Katori with his nice save to their relationship and Tanaka with the support. I was also hoping that they should get their own side story since their chemistry and combination are very interesting.
Overall, it is a very fun and simple love story, I had my laughs and thrills with their love and I think that the series really gave me the vibes of a high-school love story setting. I realized that upon watching a LOT of JBLs, I learned to appreciate simple stories such as this one. I should also mention the OST, I really love the opening song by Sano Ibuki and it will definitely go straight to my playlist.
