What was that?
That 8.8 rating on this website is a scam. I had high expectations before watching this series due to the feedback and rating I saw from other people, and it was a scam. I am a sucker for angst and I thought that I can finally put on a thinking hat while watching a ThaiBL but nope, this series forcefully took it off from me.
Positive:
1. Yin (Jack) looks good. I'm that kind of person who, if I started something, I should finish it, and Yin's look contributed to it.
2. Grandma and Toi Ting are goated. I know Grandma's back was tired from carrying this mess.
3. I love series that tackle poverty and its never-ending cycle, however...
4. Hoy is my favorite character since I love a naturally empathetic and good-hearted person, however...
5. Rose was supposed to be another of my favorite characters since she was funny; however, they did her dirty in the timeskip
Negative:
1. Everything.
2. Aside from Hoy, every character is dumb to the point that I gave up understanding each of them. It's not wrong to add some comedic and unserious scenes; however, these unnecessary 'scenes' became a foundation for how unserious and disconnected it was for their attempt to create an action, tragic/tearjerking ending. It was soooo what the. I thought Hoy was going to be my salvation in saving the group's identity in flopping; however, he also choked at the last episode, likeee girl why did you friendly-fired Tattoo??? And Rose, she has a lot of material to be this awesome girlboss with a lot of money that will surely help Jack and Joke, but they made her a clueless rich girl likeeeeeee AAAAAAAAHHH.
3. The hierarchy and status of each character were unclear, so I couldn't take them seriously. Four horsemen, the boss suddenly gaining power because of a stupidly guarded ring, Carbon suddenly appearing, then Carbon suddenly having a casino owned by his dad, and other shenanigans like, huh, should I take these characters seriously? I didn't even shed a tear at the ending due to how messy it was. Another one is Sister Nang, like, what was she supposed to be?
4. The lack of accountability, actually, there is no accountability at all, another unserious shenanigan. Boss (Alice) is not in prison/dead, Carbon is out of prison again (due to his unintroduced father, whatever), Joke's father, everything is a joke and a mess.
Overall, it was a mess; that rating is a scam. I didn't even bother to understand Jack and Joke since every character here is unserious, messy, and their attempted development was only back and forth with no clear path set for them. If you want to watch it, you can, but that rating is a disrespect to other series that have a more cohesive and clearer path and plot. It's a shame since this series has a lot of material for angst, development, and other shenanigans, and it seems like there's still a continuation, so whatever.
