I see many theories in the comments saying it's possible that Solhee hears "I didn't kill her" a lie because the girl is still alive in the first place. I admit this theory got my hopes up but after thinking about it a while longer I realized, if the girl is alive and Doha says "I didn't kill her" wouldn't that be a truthful statement? There's no reason for Solhee to hear a lie if that is the case.
The other theory is that people around him have told Doha that he is the killer so many times it turned into the truth in his head. This theory reminds me of a discussion I had in a philosophy class, which I found pretty interesting. If you are driving past a green hill and exclaim "There's a cow on the other side of the hill" without actually knowing so, does it count as a lie if it turns out there really is a cow? If you believed it to be the truth that a cow was on the other side of the hill, would it be a lie if it turned out there wasn't? Another example is if a friend told you a lie, you believed it to be the truth, and you told that lie to Solhee. Would the gong ring in Solhee's mind? I'm curious as to whether Solhee hears objective truths or truth by perspective.
If she hears objective truths, I think her powers would be far greater because she would also have the ability to predict the future through her ability. If someone tells her "Candidate XXX will win the next election for the presidency" and it is objectively wrong because the candidate will not win, the gong should ring in her head. I don't think Solhee's ability is really that powerful, so I assume she hears truth by perspective.
This is a prediction, but I think Solhee will realize this in a similar fashion to the example about the friend lying. Like she will know something to be the truth, but then someone tells her the opposite while strongly believing that opposite narrative to be the truth. I could be completely wrong haha I'm just theorizing while waiting for ep 8 to drop.
