Intrigue, Romance, and a Twist You Didn’t See Coming!
To confirm the theory that this director always gives the main couple a happy ending and a daughter, I decided to watch his hit short drama as well.Admittedly, the premise doesn't make much sense—face-swapping in what seems to be a Tang Dynasty setting? Really? But if you can overlook that, the story flows beautifully. The buildup of conflict, the plot twists, and the unwavering bond between the main couple are top-notch. They say it's a "green flag" when your partner believes in you (as if that's not the bare minimum in a relationship 🙃), and that's exactly the defining trait of the male lead.
Like many short dramas, this one isn't shy about showing intimacy—perhaps because censorship isn't as strict? And with its high production value, the sets and actors deliver an impressive experience.
I enjoyed watching it, especially since each episode is only 10 minutes long, and there are just 18 episodes available on YouTube.
Oh, and yes—the theory is confirmed!
So, the story flows well with strong characters and high production value, but the slightly unrealistic premise and niche appeal might not work for everyone.

A Refreshing High School Love Story
If you ever need a light drama to accompany you while you do your thing, I'd suggest this one. This was my playlist for about a week? Yas, I wasn't binge-watching 🫶🏻, but the story mostly revolves around a first love story in high school with a too-good-to-be-true boyfriend. However, the interesting part is the SFL, who's veryyyyy 🐍, and at first, I tried to sympathize with her life story. Then, after some revelations and forgiveness from her friends, she was still 🐍 and definitely mentally sick. People were complaining on Tiktok because they gave the nice, attentive, and caring SML a bad ending since he ended up with her...while for me, it was okay because SML is more of a pushover and has a hero mentality, I guess.
Anyway, back to the ML and FL, they're so cute 🫶🏻, and their acting is good for newcomers. Especially the ML - you know, in usual idol dramas, the ML usually doesn't have vast expressions to show because they're the 😎 type. Well, here the ML is the bright, smart, friendly, and SOLUTIVE guy you can rely on. His life story took a turn when his family collapsed, and he had this pride to carry the burden alone. Then, he went into hiding while fighting hard to achieve his promise with the FL. The FL isn't a pushover; at first, she just thought she wanted to befriend anyone because she was bullied in her last school. But in the end, she stood up for herself, not being a damsel in distress 🥳.
The story mostly revolves around high school, where it was refreshing to watch the love story. They were obviously in love, but because they were students, their encounters and relationship were blurry. There were no confessions or over-the-top skinship; they were so pure in evolving from friends to lovers.
For some aspects, I wish they would be executed better lyk in time lapse of 10 years...they still look the same. Also, some things indeed rushed out, perhaps, they could actually make better episodes staging rather than go swift only on 5 episodes.
Lastly, I just found out who Tian Hongjie is...and he's tall 🤌🏻 and an idol too? I guess he'll have more acting gigs after this.

Your light women empowerment drama!
I love this drama for its unrealistic world. And how they try to tell the opposite of feudal ancient chinese society. The premise is nice, where every women character (except one or two, I guess) is very very supportive of each other. They know that when they want to thrive, they need to collaborate. The romance progress is also nice, no unnecessary scenes to drag the plots. The main cp is really hits off. Their chemistry progressing each episode. And we are brought to the journey of development between the ML and FL. Definitely worth to watch!!!

Beautiful cinematography with solid acting!
Ready to review. Finished it last weekend.Coming from me (not a Linyi and Shenyue's fan).
They both served. The chemistry and micro expressions 🤌🏻. I meant to portray sadness and anger without tears is very difficult, I suppose.
The premise is great. But, but but...in 20ish episodes I guess they dragged the story too much. And I saw their relationship progression is quite weird, it gets back on track after 27th episode (partly bcs I am looking for steamy scenes but they got none-"you are welcome" is my response if you are like me).
The second couple story is also great. Realistic approach. To handle their own self and problem, "If we meet again in the end of this road,we never know what's going to happen".
Hats off, to the aesthetic scenes also. This urban drama deserves recognition for its cinematography. The lighting, the shoot, transition, rawness...everything. Simply saying, I am in love.
And, because the drama is so beautiful, they give a beautiful ending too. No unnecessary life after wedding or the moment they married.
They ended it just with a kiss. And it was enough.

Stunning Visuals, Fiery Chemistry, and a Happy Ending You Can't Miss! ?
They present beautiful scenes, and because the central pair (CP) are married halfway through the story, there are plenty of intimate moments compared to the vague intimacy often depicted when the CP isn't married in other Wuxia dramas. For some reason, the filming locations seem different this time; there appear to be fewer of the usual buildings commonly seen when productions are shot in Hengdian. The CGI complements the story without going overboard. The chemistry between the leads is on fire, and the acting is top-notch.I love how the story provides solid reasons for each character's actions, supported by detailed background stories for the supporting characters. The director, known for his expertise in short dramas, likely contributed to the well-paced narrative. Oh, and there's a happy ending (the main reason I waited for the series to finish before watching).
The only thing that annoys me is the random Douyin-inspired makeup on one of the female supporting characters. Other than that, everything is spot-on!
