Puppy never seen again. I think he did kill his puppy and make him eat it. It was not the meat being raw it was that it was his puppy. Not to mention the cut of meat looked small. Not throwing shade but it is not uncommon in rural areas of China to eat dogs still. Back in that time it was probably worse. He wanted him ti be taught being a survivor. I think is Qingyi had never left for the war he would have tried to get back with her and found out about the child. He even jumped out of the truck when he saw her.
