the biggest misconception abt this is, a gay man must be girly in his childhood. that is so not true. manliest men out there, who havent done the slightest girly thing can be gay (and mind you this is actually the majority of homosexual men. feminine gay men, portrayed in media are actually in reality much much less in number) and girly feminine men, who have played with dolls, preferred pink and cute stuff, and still like all of that in their older age can be easily heterosexual. there's a huge number of heterosexual feminine men. so this characterization and stereotype is so wrong. and queer ppl back in the day did everything but to act according to the stereotype to survive
