Yes I totally get why people are annoyed at the "girlfriend passing" thingy. And are unhappy because it feels like FL has no say in it. But you can all look at it from this perspective, that FL and ML's relationship was never over. FL was terribly heartbroken and always had a soft spot for ML. and SML knew that, and they began their relationship knowing there was a wrench in FL's heart for ML. when the Real reason, aka ML being deaf is revealed, The entire dynamic changes because the heartbreak FL suffered cause of ML was actually to protect the feelings of FL and SML and others.
Which completely changes the standpoint of the "heartbreak". all the anger and pain FL has collected regarding ML just poofed away!
And SML noticed it right away.
But ML and SML did not girlfriend pass, thats because SML DID NOT BREAK UP WITH FL FOR FL'S SAKE. He totally did it for ML's sake. SML's regained friendship with ML automatically became more important to him than the relationship even though it caused him a lot of pain.
And no one forced FL back with ML, she could have gone to anyone or remained single. Because SML did not break up for FL, he did it because he did not want to date the lover of his best friend aka ML.
FL and ML getting back together at the end can be completely segregated from SML's break up

I read the manga almost 5-6 years ago, when i didn't even know this series existed.
And I tell you, the manga is leagues better than the series. the series was really really disappointing, especially because of the existence of the manga.
Manga beautifully portrays the racial discrimination in the manner of vampires, its more of a political and social manga than anything else.
please do no waste your time watching the series, rather read the manga on webtoon

they don't break up, but the series is nothing like the novel. the only thing same between novel and the series is the tag line plot " pisaeng getting married to pear. Kawi loves pear, Goes to past, ends up with pisaeng"
the rest is completely different. how it happens, what are the dynamics, the character personalities, small and big events. just glitched out
