Yes, in the Philippines there has been a few movies with KickAss girls. If I remember correctly one was a HK National (I can be wrong though) named Cynthia, not sure of her last name. I've always lover her movies as it was Action and comedy.

Also Japan did try this, early 2000s I guess with, I forgot her name --Daimon Michiko (lol. Her character stuck!) Gunner Girl from Nowhere is the title I think.

It was the anime that got me to watch the live action. A friend of mine lent me his cd collections a longgggg time ago. Though with Blade of the immortal, I don't consider it "historical" so my bad on that. lol.
