Tony Leung literally carries this series, tried watching a few episodes I can't understand Cantonese at all but his expressions and delivery are so good
I would guess the One True Pair is between Hu Ge and his original girlfriend who keeps bouncing back into his…
Well he technically didn't sneak around, after he met college GF he told office gf right away. Cept that college made a power move invited both Hu Ge and office gf to dinner with their friends, and then subtly demonstrated she had the deeper bond and that was the final straw since office gf was already somewhat insecure. GF #3 is the assistant girl (employee #4) and apparently she's a gold digger lol
The webtoon that this is based on is downright fantastic, it started as a romantic comedy but had hints of crime drama scattered in it, and when the plot twist came midway through the story it transitioned in a fully fledged mystery thriller. After watching the first two episodes I can see that they're trying to keep the same vibe as the webtoon and do the same type of plot structure, but unfortunately so far it's not as well executed as the webtoon. I'm going to give it a few more episodes before I cast a verdict, as it still has room to improve.
Damn this is 45 episodes long? Episode 17 already had a shit ton of drama. Both females leads are really likeable and both get a ton of development too, so it's pretty hard to tell what the OTP will be (which is a good thing)
Edit: I found spoilers and Hu Ge will actually go through 3 gfs over the course of the show, what a playa
Was extremely cheesy with some super campy dialogue even by idol drama standards but it was still somewhat watchable until episodes 4-5....Those episodes were god awful with terrible editing. For example, there's a scene where they're trying to infiltrate an evil boss's base and it's shown to be an inactive volcano with an eye over (it a-la-Mordor style) and it's surrounded by molten lava, but yet they film the base arrival scene at a fucking mountain lake that had no volcano, no lava, and no Eye of Mordor (WTF?) During this scene they keep cutting between the volcano and the mountain lake - which is clearly NOT the volcano as I shouldn't have to tell you - and trying to imply that they are the same place (Hint: it's not even close). And then it immediately cuts to them inside they base where all of a sudden the party has already split and found disguises, none of which was ever shown beforehand or had even the faintest hint of transition. I don't want to be too harsh, but when examples of bad editing like this pop up every 5 minutes, you gotta start questioning how this was allowed to happen when the show has a budget of over 120 mil RMB (which you think would be more than enough money to allow the producers to hire a half decent editor or a director who can make their scenes flow properly). I was pretty hyped after seeing all the positive reviews of the show and reading that in excess of 120 RMB was spent on the budget, but I guess I should have known better than to expect too much out of an idol drama airing on Hunan TV (the home of cringeworthy teen dramas). I'm a big fan of the original book which this show is based on so I'll keep watching, but I think I'll need to turn my brain off and just focus on the pretty actors/actresses and costumes and not pay any attention to the plot/editing.

This tv series = 70% romantic cheese, 20% family drama cheese, 10% pretty characters and damsels in distress
