why are people afraid of heirs to Yique Yinyang? what is it about ML that made him "born to kill?"
Yique Yinyang caused massive devastation ten years ago. Among other things, he founded an evil cult that kidnapped children and subjected them to grueling trials -- most of them didnāt survive. He also spread a highly addictive drug among jianghu warriors to control them, and supposedly did something to the former emperor that rendered him unfit to rule, ultimately causing a civil war. While the people of Shenzhou donāt know exactly who Yique Yinyang was or what his ultimate goal might have been (many suspect he simply wanted to become a god), they definitely arenāt eager to see history repeat itself.
I just finished watching this and I want to share my thoughts, but there are too many spoilers so Iāll write…
The novel's ending is somewhat similar to what we get in the drama before the time-reversal. Most of the characters die (including many who were left alive in the drama), and Tang Lici is left to live alone.
Since you mentioned MLC, here's the fun part: the screenwriters of MLC borrowed quite a few plot elements from the WoF source novel -- like the main villain trying to restore the previous dynasty via a mind-controlling bug conspiracy. So I suspect that the WoF screenwriters had to rework the final arc because of that, removing all the Imperial Palace stuff and changing the purpose of the Nine-Hearted Demon Pill into creating "black tuli" essence instead of spreading an epidemic of mind-control bugs.
The novelās ending is waaay worse -- both in terms of the āhappinessā factor and basic plot/character logic.…
It's a bit similar to what we saw right before the time rewind in the drama: Tang Lici survives, but everyone else dies. And not just the ones we actually see die in the show -- it's pretty much everyone, including Pu Zhu, Ah Shui, Fu Zhumei, Shui Duopo, Xue Xianzi...
another sad ending, nowadays they cant even follow a novel, they start making plots with chatgpt
The novelās ending is waaay worse -- both in terms of the āhappinessā factor and basic plot/character logic. Iām really glad the drama went with a different one.
The more I think about it, the more I feel sorry for Ashui that she sacrificed herself to save ML that she chose…
I actually find it really poignant how Tang Liciās and Ah Shuiās choices mirror each other. They both end up sacrificing themselves for the people they care about, even though those people will likely never even know about their sacrifice.
Remember FZās earlier words, āone can sacrifice for the rest to liveā¦ā thatās TLCās ending.
In the final scenes, Fu Zhumei is the cook - I suppose, in the same tavern where Ah Shui and Fang Zhou are having a dinner together. We can see him from the back and recognize his voice.
I don't have access to the good subtitles in Ep 40 yet. At minute 46:41, these words suddenly appear. What does…
Quantum (Entertainment). Otter (Studios) - production companies of the drama. "We met again after many twists and turns." - it's their third collaboration (the first being unaired Immortality, the second - Till the End of the Moon).
If TLC can share his memory with LY, why he didnāt do it from beginning?!! and they could join force to resurrect…
He was only able to do it after mastering Fang Zhou's technique, which happened only as the heart crystal got destroyed and Fang Zhou's spirit spoke to him.
Love the ending - logical and earned, and with a good twist in the last episode.
It's more of a hopeful one for me, than actually sad - both because Tang Lici managed to stay in control of his fate, and because of the foxdragon thing in the last scene.
