Title True Beauty
How I see this casting? Slap in the face to all average looking actresses. It's like telling them: stay in line…
@Kate Hii! I've been reading your arguments and you seem very passionate about this. I have only seen Moon Ga Young in Tempted and I liked her character until I learned of the plot and dropped it on EP 4. Nonetheless, I get where you're coming from. From what you noted about the trailer one example I could think of was King the Eternal Monarch. I was speechless and expected a lot from it after the trailer but from start to finish, the only thing that kept me going was my undying love and support for Lee Min Ho. TKEM, in my humble opinion, was a messy and boring kdrama due to too many side stories and plot holes. And so I don't want to judge according to the trailer. In this case, it was only like 15 seconds and showed one character: the FL. I think that Moon Ga Young has the acting part nailed and the skill necessary to portray the character and the directors and everyone working behind the drama had to approve of her casting. You mentioned one of your main point is that they casted someone approved by the beauty-standards to play an average-looking person. I think I would ask you to try the first episode and see if you really think she shouldn't be the lead. And anyways, no one is forcing you to watch it. I once dropped a drama after learning that the ship I liked did not end up together. I also don't watch ones with certain actresses/actors if I am not familiar with them. If you don't like the lead in this one, there are soooo many other Kdramas out there for you and I hope you find ones you'll enjoy. Best wishes :)

As a BL fan, a gay man, and a Hana Yori Dango fan, my heart is torn on this series. Firstly, I want to say that…
I have yet to watch 2gether as well!! I think I'll watch this first though so I'll trick myself into thinking that they'll end up together hahahahaha

I love filipino dramas, but I have just watched a few because they are the hardest to find. Maybe you can find…
My point exactly!! And sometimes, they label the episodes with the date it aired and not the episode number and so you gotta keep track. I, for one, have given up on Filipino dramas. I'm only here for the movies. I think our dramas could have potential to be famous worldwide if it weren't so hard to find subs for non-speakers/international audiences. BUT NO, when the TV networks find free streaming sites, they shut it down so I guess we played ourselves on this one.

Ph dramas that I really liked:- Encantadia (2005 version)- Dyosa- May Bukas Pa- Dyesebel (the one with Marian)-…
BROOO Everyone loved GMA then after Marian and Dingdong, the love teams and a lot of other artists began transferring to ABSCBN and so beginning in 2009, I am team ABSCBN. The only shows I could recall watching from GMA was Carmella starring Marian or the Kdrama Tagalog Dubbed shows.

I have been watching FILIPINO Movies for some time. They are great but haven't really found many series (Dramas)…
Hi! I must admit the latest drama I've seen were years ago (2015 being the latest) but here are my recommendations:
- Mara Clara
- Got To Believe
- Walang Hanggan
- Bridges of Love
- On the Wings of Love
- Til I Met You
- Born For You
- Dolce Amore
- Forevermore
- The Legal Wife
- Tubig at Langis

As for newer ones, although I haven't seen it, I heard positive reviews about:
- The Killer Bride
- Wildflower
- The General's Daughter
- Kadenang Ginto (Gold Chain)
- Love Thy Woman
- Asintado
- Make it with You [this show was cancelled tho]
- The Story of Us
- Los Bastardos
- Pasion de Amor
- Be My Lady
- Doble Kara
- A Soldier's Heart

*Note: All these shows belong to only one TV station (ABSCBN). I have not seen any ones from GMA-7 or TV-5 but you can try them if you want to. I was just never a fan. Nonetheless, thank you for your interest in my country's shows. Happy viewing!

Seee, most drama watchers, from my observation are young and me for example am broke. Luckily I speak the language…
^by that I mean I could go on sketchy sites and just watch it. however, such sites do not have subs at all and only a few bc TV networks are doing a crackdown on those so it's so hard accessing them. For me, I don't think a subscription is worth it especially if I would only be watching 1 show and I'm a broke college student soooooooo......

The problem with Filipino dramas is finding subtitles >_< I started watching their movies a couple months ago…
Seee, most drama watchers, from my observation are young and me for example am broke. Luckily I speak the language and do not need ENG SUBs but for international audiences, it's a more complicated topic. Good luck tho and happy watching.

10/10 would recommend non-filos to binge watch The Man From The Province (2017) https://kisskh.at/27863-the-man-from-the-province…
broooo I thought that ended with the ABS CBN shutdown thingy..... did they even shut down?? Brooo I have a cousin that was born the year that drama started and now he is 5 likeeeee ???? it should end already to make way for newer content. it's like 1000 episodes. No siree. And I thought Grey's Anatomy was long.

Where can I watch Filipino dramas
TFC if you're in the USA. Idk any decent streaming websites with free ENG SUB :( sorrryyy. (this is one of the biggest reasons our filipino dramas are not as popular: no free decent subs.) We have this big TV network called ABSCBN and they only upload the episode trailers for ongoing dramas. they would never post the full episodes on YouTube. If they do, that drama would be like super old from 5-10+ years ago. Disappointing, really. Anyways, thanks for reading.
Rant: closed. I should be doing my homework

As a Filipino, born and raised, I think we have a long way to go if we compare ourselves to our neighboring Asian countries. For starters, we cannot cater to international audiences because it is hard to find free streaming websites to watch such shows. Unlike K-dramas, they are more accessible. A wide variety of Chinese dramas are uploaded free on YouTube but for us, we have to have a paid subscription to TFC to get the subs or high quality videos. (Our biggest TV network that has the good shows hate piracy and would often bust streaming sites so there you go.) Also, I agree with other commenters that our plot is the usual same old love teams and affairs that there is nothing new. We had this one drama that started in 2015 that ran its course which amounted to more than 1,000 episodes. While normally dramas would range from 3 most to 2 years and it is worth noting that we do not take breaks every year unlike American shows. Our Filipino dramas have new episodes every weekday that is 20-30 minutes each. It is very draggy and I would not even recommend it to my foreigner friends. The acting is alright but given the long course, it becomes bland. I think they need to cut back on the amount of time a show airs in order to focus more on cinematography. And let me tell you about the OSTs: it is basically the same song played over and over again in most cases. Some dramas are named after songs like "Got To Believe" and "Forevermore." It is always a bickering couple that would stand the test of time and third parties. I'm sick of it. And that is why I often prefer Chinese/Korean/Japanese dramas because (1) less episode, less time commitment (2) only 1-2 seasons so more time for other shows=time to explore other genres (3) has a huge following so international friends and I can talk about it (4) great cinematography and visual effects. My advice is here if you wanna take it. But I would only watch Filipino movies and not the dramas.

Person Smile Wei
I first saw her in Romance of Tiger and Rose. She reminds me of TWICE Chou Tzuyu!! Both of them could pass as sisters and are so pretty !!
