oh man, I just cannot bring myself to see someone who kills animals for fun as a romantic male lead, even though it's historical & the animals cgi. it's just personally such a turnoff to glorify hunting

agree. what was that reunion? so anticlimatic. I wasnt even happy. It felt so flat & soulless.

I am not criticizing the character or saying he doesnt have other things going on, but they dont show us that in depth in the show. for wyf she has her trauma storyline, her job story, her backstory & her love story, her friendship stories, not everything that is shown is related to sy. but his storyline consists of mainly wyf, no independent challenges shown in detail & well if all he wants is wyf, then I personnaly dont find this appealling in a ml, as I cant relate to the character as much

they didn't develop his character as well as hers: I see it as: He chooses Uni because of her, he names his restaurant because of her, he starts working because of her, he plays a certain game because of her. He wasnt developped as an individual besides being in love with wyf. I wish the took the time to show his love for his family, his friendships, passion for a job or a Hobby, it's all very superficial & most of his scenes especially in the begining were only in the Apartment. It's not balanced in the script imo

Dragging the doom & gloom...what I loved about HL were the mature & open conversations & how healthy the couple felt, no makjang no crazy drama everything was resolved so nicely & realistically. It was all butterflies. This is of course a melodrama & their relationship is not healthy at all, (obsession/ really bad communication/ no trust/trauma) but TW drama mars did this topic much better 20 years! ago, where I wasnt frustrated with the story for 3 episodes straight. I still love our couple and the acting & root for them but besides the lacking character development, ml doing nothing besides in love for 20years & the boring side stories, this way of story telling & prolonged suffdring is a disappointment to me. of course it's understandable what happens but the execution & how much time they take up to resolve this, is not my cup of tea

they mention, donkey skin/ejiao as medicine in ep 3. to me this is actually really sad, that they promote it as normal, because donkeys are endangered due to use in TCM..I hope they wont normalize pangolin scales, bear bile or rhino horn in the show as well, because this is actually so bad for these endangered species
