ok' so it turns out that I like to argue. lol Yes, Zi Ang took action and his actions were meant to save Shu He's life but that's not my point, my point is that no one has the right to take action even if it is for "your own good", even if it meant to save your life. Shu He had the right to choose even to his own detriment. Shu He's agency was taken away, he was no match for such a trained assassin. Zi Ang is not a psychopath and he preserved his humanity that's why we defend him and understand him but he was a cruel assassin and ruler and at the very least selfish and lacking some empathy. He did not realize his wrong doings on his own... First thing he does is to cover Shu He's eyes not to see his tears... Shu He was right he was feeling guilty and did not want to face the reality of his actions. He does not allowed Shu He to mourn the lost of his kingdom and tries to just pick up and move on. He thinks the palace is a great gift for Shu He, once again trying to move on from the devastating events of decimating his country and kidnapping him. There was not a hint of compassion for Shu He or acknowledgement of his pain and suffering, Instead he imprisons him for not appreciating his "gift". He only apologizes when he realizes that no matter what, Shu He is not buying into lets just love each other and SH holds hatred in his heart, and only after Shi He tries to escape. Once again here is another incident in which Zi Ang is shocked that Shu He deceived him and tried to escape. Instead of acknowledging his wrong doings, he chains Shu He, he did not immediately take responsibility. Here is where the shift happens, he is very sick and does not have much time left. This is what I have wondered all along, he knew he was dying and wanted to keep Shu He with him, what did he think would happen to Shu He once he was dead? he would be killed by his brother of course! but we did not see any provisions being being made or Zi Ang asking his brother to protect him. Once again, this is very self centered/selfish behavior from ZA. I love Zi Ang's character because I am tired of clean cut main leads who could no wrong. And at the same time I feel we need to see him as he is; complex , layered, with a touch of madness and selfishness. I agree, the complexity of their emotions and decisions are extraordinary! Love, love their acting.

Really well said Jasprin!!! Just catching up with the comments and I am glad to see new people talking about this series. I don't have much to add except that this series invites so much emotional upheaval and introspection, not just of the characters but our own beliefs. We love Zi Ang but if we step away from the emotions, he is a true villain whose actions are unforgivable. In the name of love, would you forgive?? someone who killed your beloved brother(even if evil) decimated your country, kidnapped, imprisoned you and basically took away all your agency. Shu He ultimately was able to offer redemption and forgiveness without loosing sight of all the wrongs that Zi Ang has done to him. Zi Ang was a master speaker, he tells Shu He his tears are worst than any blade but he was the one causing those tears. Despite everything Shu He finds a way to choose love and a way to be together forever! I love Zi Ang and understand him,( after all I have a touch of madness, I can't let go of this seriesš¤£) he was raised as a weapon and brainwashed from an early age but I adore Shu He for never buying into the manipulation and gaslighting from Zi Ang. I meant to write one line but it's impossible!
If Zhang ZheXu and Mi Jin were to act together in another drama, would you prefer modern or ancient setting?
They can pulled off any role but I would love an ancient drama, there is just something about the costumes and atmosphere that I think they are so suited for. But, I want it all so a modern drama where Zhe Xu plays a gothic killer vampire hired to hunt Mi Jin with lots of angst....
Because this BL is so loved by so many now, people who come later to the viewing experience are expecting a wow…
Well said MarazulOx!!! MiJin and ZheXhu's acting is what made this series so iconic and special. Their acting separates them from all the other bl series that are very popular but I personally can't compare. I know liking a series is subjective but objectively speaking the script and acting in Kill to Love is simply superior and amazing! I am enjoying To my shore as well.

Everyone has very good points that I would have loved to have seen explored. I would have loved to see the devastation of South Hui, I think it would have added more depths to Shu He's pain of loosing his country and his people and to see his struggle and decision making to not forgive ZA. Explore Hai Yi storyline and his hatred for Shu He, also to be found out about killing the prisoners of war. I was not invested in the relationship between Shu Qian and Hua Ying and I wished they had used that time to explore other issues mentioned before. The complexity of the characters is what made this series my number one and would have been glorious with more episodes.

Personally, I think that he was ambitious and wanted to have it all. His brother, his kingdom and Shu He. knowing his training, this seems an strategic move instead of an innocent omission. I really think he underestimated SH's character and thought he could just explain himself away afterwards, which is what he did until their end.
I agree the translations are not the best but sometimes I can't watch certain shows through Gaga, for Kill to love I would watch even with bad translations...the struggle is real for obsessed fans!
