Yeah fair, I get the constraints argument. For me it's less about plot changes and more that the male lead just doesn't hit the same way he did in the novel, like that aura is just missing on screen. Probably just my own expectations not lining up with reality lol. Will give it a watch after it gets over.

From what I remember, the drama has deviated a lot from the original novel. It's a female lead story, but even the male lead feels completely different, he had way more aura in the book. I've only watched the first 2 episodes, but it's already clear they've butchered most of the plot.

I loved the novel and was so excited for this adaptation with Bai Lu, but seeing this... what a pity.

Just finished watching the 1st episode on Criterion with english subtitles. It made me realize how much content I lost when I previously binge watched the series with poor subtitles.

There aren’t any major changes overall, but one subtle thing stood out to me during the opening sequence, there’s this particular tune that was present in the China version but isn’t there in the Criterion release.

I really loved that tune. Even though it’s a small detail, it felt like the soul of the show to me, especially in how it captured the aura of Mr. Bao.

Just finished watching the entire series, after it being on my watchlist for years. It reminded
me of Source Code (2011) with similar core plot.

well I downloaded and watched 11 episodes in 1080p and it got good subs compared to other which I came across but now its showing that it can't find transfer file. Can you make those files available again?
