I was really looking forward to this show and had high expectations for this. They had Wang Ying Lu, Li Yun Rui, and I was even a little excited over Chang Long...How did they butcher this so badly?? I did not need this to be a romance focused show but when I realized how poor/boring the plot was turning out, I put all of my hopes into the romance. Bad idea. Lin Yan falls for Shen Shao Guang first, which is sweet and adorable to watch...at first. But when SSG finally realizes that she loves him back, the hell she puts both him and herself through is so stressful and ridiculous. It takes the entire drama for the misunderstanding between them to be cleared up and the main couple to get together. And the way they resolve the two thinking they are related this whole time is... the dumbest member of the family (Shen Shao Jie) simply remembers that they aren't from something their grandfather told him. So they find out they aren't relatives and marry in the same ep. They are married for 1 ep in total before tragedy rips them apart in the form of a fire that was destined to happen at the family restaurant. So the ML is left without his wife and dies alone. Oh, and NO ONE remembers that family ever existed except him. Meanwhile in the future, no one remembers anything that happened besides SSG and she is told she was dreaming. Her and LY are reunited in the end for 30secs when his future self sees her at her ancestor's shrine. Apparently they both had the same dream? I don't know... My forehead hurts from how many times I've slapped it watching this garbage! I can't fault WYL or LYR at all for this though. Their acting was still good. It's just terrible storytelling.

And the parts of the drama that I was hoping would make it more tolerable fell flat as well. Anything the Shao Guang family did was either cringy or boring. The men in the family were just insufferable. Yang Yang was cute and the mother was admirable at times but that's no where near enough to save the show. Li Chuang was also enjoyable but there was not enough of him either. We did get a 2nd CP which was Pei Fei and the Grand Princess....another forehead slap for that one...And finally we have Lin Yan's revenge agenda. They spend a lot of time uncovering the truth but the resolution in the end was so quick and senseless how it played out . It wasn't even satisfying. Best part of the drama...most of the food looked good.
