Guys guys.... so after finishing ep 9, I went back and rewatched all the previous episodes, and WOW did I slam…
I'm with you. I don't know if they'll ever go back looking for that temple, but remember in episode 3 when the gang theorized about whether the tragic couple that lead to the temple's creation was a more likely a male/male couple instead of a female/male couple (because it would be a more acceptable story at the time)? I guess they had it there to foreshadow Amber's true identity. They thought this plot out....
I'm really liking this season so far. At first, I was worried that they introduced so many characters, but the show manages to tell the side-characters' story efficiently without taking away from the main characters, Ben and Jim. All the new characters are interesting and have unique personalities.
A couple of observations: - Val, who initially hates Jim because his father is an outspoken opponent of the SOGIE Bill (and a hypocrite to boot) may turn out to be Jim's biggest supporter - At end of episode 2, it seems like Ben has found a new love in Roy, but in the preview for episode 3, this relationship maybe one-sided - Yana helping Olan find a boyfriend to help her "move on" is an interesting way to do so - It's hinted that Bogs likes Francia and wants her to transition because she wants to and not for someone else. This is refreshing because the producer stated on Twitter that Bogs is straight - after what Dante pulled on Flo and Flo's response to it, it's going to take a miracle for them to like each other much less talk to each other.
What makes Boy's Lockdown refreshing is that the enemy is not some jealous ex, or homophobic parent, or the main characters' misunderstandings. Instead, the source of conflicts are the virus, lockdowns, social isolation, and broken cellphones.
Tonhon's biggest flaw: he is so dense, and I dare say he is even dense to his own feelings. I feel like many of his actions, like wanting to sleep in the same bed as Chonlatee or really getting close to him are subconscious betrayals for his feelings for him. And I think you can owe that denseness to his father, who keeps drilling on him on how important it is to have a woman in one's life that he automatically thinks that's what he should be doing. We'll see how he'll get over that.
Episode 3 demonstrate that this show can be equally light-hearted and serious, and I wasn't expecting Ate Libby's break down. She perfectly describes the distress many feel during the lockdown: the stress of uncertainty but also the gratitude that they're better off than most people. Also the frustration with an apathetic government.
And can I just say that Dicky and Whilce are long-lost twins who can't resist taking off their shirts at every opportunity?
For those confused about Judit and her inconsistent accents: I think they intended her to be a conyo, a Filipino term used to describe people who speak English and Tagalog in a very fussy way. It's common among the upper class. Some say they do it to show off how well-educated they are. Vlad, by extension, I think, is a conyo, too. That's why his english accent is good. However, Judit takes it to the extreme. Not only she code-switches between Tagalog and English, but she also speaks in a British and French accents and uses French, Japanese, and Thai terms--all in the effort to show how worldly and well-traveled she is. Even her "ally ship" is pretentious, because it shows how well-educated she is (although I also believe that she also truly wants to be open-minded and supportive of her brother). She comes off as snobby and over-bearing--even she admits this--making her a flawed, but likable character, at least in my opinion.
I know people here are harping on Judah, but do you know what I appreciate about him? His honesty, and, more importantly, he knows what he wants and not afraid to say it. Some say that he forced Rocky to come out, but I don't think he did. He just told him that if he loved him, then he has to be committed to him and open about it. He didn't manipulate him into doing it, he didn't force him to do it (unlike Rocky, who ripped the quarantine pass to force him to stay). He even said he was willing to wait for him should Rocky change his mind. I don't think Judah would force anyone to come out after what happened to him with his grandmother. The only problem with Judah is that he can have very high expectations from people, leading him to be disappointed a lot.
I hope they'll explore the meaning behind the Wi-Fi password JB06052015. Seeing it obviously affected Jim, and it looks like some sort of date involving the two.
This series hand's down is the best of 2020.Loved this final episode. Many people love RamKing here as I can see…
I agree. If Bohn x Duen's kiss was a bit more passionate, that would be really out of character for them. Plus, I LOVE how they looked away after the 2nd kiss. They're both are shy! Even though I'm sure Bohn has kissed other (girls) before, I think this is the first time he is kissing someone he loves.
