I understand your concerns and I think the so-called self censoring is somehow strategic, since the more lgbtq dramas aired smoothly the more likely for people to have a chance to watch them and become open to lgbtq contents. Anyway people can choose their preferred way. My parents can't accept lgbtq at all, but I will recommend them watch this :D

The logic here sounds weird to me, why do you think watching this supports censorship? I think it's the other way around, NOT watching it actually supports the censorship. The reason of censorship i think is to limit the spread of lgbtq contents, they would be happy if people not watching it. While watching it is the best way to fight against censorship, if people watch it, spread it, and make it popular and popular, to some extent there's no way for them to suppress the trend.
