There is also a movie by Zhang Ziyi, called The Banquet. She played a woman who was a childhood sweetheart with the crown prince. However his father married her. After the emperor died, his little brother a.k.a the crown prince's uncle, married her. She's like a toy being tossed from one man to another.

Another example, it is fictional, but Legend of Lu Zhen (Zhao Liying, Chen Xiao) portrayed how she accidentally became the emperor's concubine in order to protect his baby. After Chen Xiao became the king, the ministers opposed him marrying his "sister in law". So they stayed unmarried.

You know, for a fighter, they can sense something called murderous intent (qi). The assassins came to kill him. Their murderous intent is all over the air. As an experienced fighter, he can sense it easily. However, when someone doesn't have any murderous intent, he can't sense it. How many times did Yinlou eavesdropping him? At the river hut, at his new house. He couldn't sense her presence bcs she was just there to listen. The same goes to when the emperor saw them. Xiao Duo couldn't sense anything from him. It is very common in drama and anime.

The good points of this drama:
-FL is bold, brave, extremely smart, cunning, master of coaxing. She's the type that "if you hit me, I'll hit you back". She likes to tease the ML. Definitely a perfect match for the ML
-ML is extremely cool. He is cold, ruthless, scheming, smart, efficient, smooth talker. He falls in love first and becomes a puppy only to her.
-the main couple is perfect
-the plot is unpredictable.
-cinematography is beautiful
-beautiful OST
-great chemistry
-great fighting scene

Bad points:
-the kiss scenes have been deleted and the cut is choppy.

Most likely bcs it is about eunuch and concubine. Bcs if it's about the cheating issue, there are a few historical drama about it. In "A Lifetime Love", she is legally married, yet she has sex with her bf and has a daughter. Also a story about a king/prince takes his sister in law as his own wife, it's so common and it was in real history. Even Beauty Li, who is also a concubine, was forced to be eunuch Liu's mistress. Some eunuch did use their authority to get women. This drama actually portrays real situations happened in history. But like you said, those petty people want to stay glorious and clean in viewer's minds.

Let's say, if Yinlou was set free right after she was rescued, she wouldn't get the title of consort dowager and her relationship with Xiao Duo isn't taboo at all. Or if Xiao Duo isn't an eunuch, a general or chief would be good. I don't know why Zhaoding bureau has to be led by an eunuch? If it's a chief it's understandable. We can see that Qilang and Zhaoding men are not eunuchs. It is said Zhaoding bureau is seal holding bureau? But then was promoted by the emperor and since then hold great power in both security and intelligence. They should have changed his identity since they already changed a lot from the novel.

I even wonder if older generations, say 50s or above, watch idol drama? UL is considered idol drama isn't it?

She was forced to enter the palace as tribute lady bcs her family threatened her with her mother's life. The one mentioned in ep 29 is most likely Ah Duo, the one who died. Yinlou is married to Xiao Duo, means Ah Duo is her brother in law. She has been helping Xiao Duo to find the murderer and it turned out to be her father. So she's contemplating about it.

For that food scene, it was meant to be comical. The editing made it funnier. So we just laughed at it.

Bcs they were shown in the trailer, we expected to see them. Dylan also said this is the most kiss he ever done in a drama 😭 I counted there is almost 20 kisses in this drama! 😭 There is a kiss that hasn't shown yet. You might have seen the video, the one where they practiced with Yuqi wearing pink hoodie and Dylan hugging her tight. Yuqi said that kiss is for the finale.

At least Yuwen Liangshi has a purpose: to get revenge for his family. The emperor doesn't even care about the country. His mind is full of obsession 🙄

Not really, bcs in the official trailer there are a lot of kiss scenes. Even the kiss in the bath scene appeared on tv before the drama aired. But then those kisses didn't appear on the show. Also the cutting is so choppy and sloppy. Everyone would know a kiss scene has been deleted.

From the leaked video of upcoming episode, like I said, Liangxu is siding with Xiao Duo to rescue Yinlou. However Cao Chun'ang can't be seen? I hope he is alive and saves Xiao Duo from the horses 😭
Also, in the trailer, Wanwan is seen laying on the ground, wounded, during the rebellion, and a man is walking to her with a bloody sword. I hope she's okay 😭

Eunuch Sun has come to his sense. He realized the man he has served for years has changed. He isn't evil like Mr. Bu or Liangshi. Even though he has been brainwashing the emperor with some weird ideas to coax him or to win Yinlou's heart, he still knows what's right and wrong. For example, he doesn't want Xiao Duo dies. Or how he knows exactly Liangshi is evil and has bad intentions. That emperor thinks he is smart, but he is the most idiot. He believes in everything people said. He thinks Xiao Duo is a threat to his throne, whereas Xiao Duo doesn't even care about it. At least Xiao Duo doesn't target his life, unlike some wolfs in sheep's skins. Now I'm thinking, it will be bad if Xiao Duo kills the emperor to win bcs it's a treason. It would be better if eunuch Sun is the one who kills the emperor.

Oh of course we can see Yu Zun also thinks his master is problematic. He might be the one who kills the emperor. Yu Zun isn't a bad person. He just follows order from the wrong master.
