If anyone is interested in reading the novel the drama is based on. The translated version can be found on wattpad.…
I'm not finding it. Is it still there?

I needed something light to watch after all the recent heavy dramas I've seen so I chose this fluffy rom-com piece. And whilst I was expecting lots of cliches, typical, predictable story-line and cringy moments, I must say I was pleasantly surprised. Yes, there were cliches, yes it was a bit zany but I found that at times when I thought it was going a certain way, it didn't and surprised me and the cringe was acceptable.
It was such a cute story with lots of heart about first love. And Nao was such a cute emotional ball of mess. I will admit, some tears were shed. This was such a delightful watch.

Just completed it. What a beautiful, simply wonderful drama. Man those last two episodes hit me in the feels so hard, I was a mess.
Also, gotta say that Takeshi's hair in this drama was just glorious. He was soo great in this drama.

I really enjoyed this drama. The only thing I found wanting was that even though I know this drama was about the how the the families of people involved in a murder are able to cope in the aftermath, I do wish they had focused a lot more on the supposed criminal and his struggles. Because, while I did initially start the drama because of the potential romance, I eventually became much more interested in the supposed criminal, what he was going through, his pov.
Also, I found the ending very disappointing. Sigh!

Am I the only one who disliked Sugishita's character and how she treated her mother after leaving for Tokyo?…
She was selfish. As a young adult, she wanted to escape and remain away from it all and she felt her mother was dragging her back. She associated that part of her life as bad so she never wanted anything to do with it. I mean she never even visited the island for years. I'm not saying the mother is evil but you also have to look at it from her pov. She felt she needed to do that to survive and I understand that, whether it was right or wrong idk. I'd recommend you finish it though, because that storyline was resolved so beautifully.

Am I the only one who disliked Sugishita's character and how she treated her mother after leaving for Tokyo?…
I can see how one can see it that way but if you think about it Sugishita was terribly hurt by her mother.
First she found out that her mom knew that there was an affair going on and did absolutely nothing about it. And then when they got thrown out, her mother abandoned all responsibility. Admittedly, her mom was in a tough situation and didn't accept reality. But to a teenager to now take on the responsibility for her brother and mother, to take care of the finances and food and then even having to prostrate herself in front of her step-mother because of the mother's denial of reality. Any person especially one who was a child would hold a grudge. I mean she even developed the habit of hoarding food. And then when her mother called her as an adult she was busy living her life and no longer wanted to have her mother as a burden to her. I don't think I could ever do that but then again what she has been through, I don't begrudge her.

This maybe a stupid question, but I want to know who she loved at the end?? Naruse or Ando it was kind of confusing.
I would like to think that she loved both of them. But she loved Naruse romantically and Ando more as a friend. That's why she ended up with Naruse but also protected Ando.

Why did Ando put the chain on the door (episode 9)?
I'm guessing he wanted Sugishita to call him to open the door. Because remember he didn't know what they were up to so he couldn't know they would want to escape.

This was such a good show. Never expected the ending and I was trying to guess the whole way through. I was in tears at the ending. It was so beautiful.

I really liked this show. And although I did want the him to eventually defend his girl, I still enjoyed his very calm character. Great drama but that last ending though!! WTH!! It was too cheesy, rushed and anticlimactic.

Loved this drama. While people may think that Aizu was against progress, this really showed how they came to be rebels and really both sides believed that they were right. It was such a well written and well acted show and I became so attached to the characters. I was a crying mess around the middle episodes and coming to the end.

Is it a happy ending or a sad ending?
I'll just say it is a calm ending. There were no fireworks but they both made it through everything just fine. I still cried at the end because it was ending.

This was such a good adaptation. The essence of the story was the same and some of the things that occurred but yet it was a different story. You still didn't know where it was going and there were even a few surprises. Light was phenomenal in this. The actor embodied Light so thoroughly. WOW. L did need some getting used to but I did love him in the end. This was a drama and an adaptation well done.

Love this drama. Usually I'm not a fan of first love stories and all the cliches along with it but dang they did it soo well that I can't help keep watching this. The emotions are so palpable and its such a pretty drama too. Love all the actors esp the bae JJM. Will be so sad when it ends.

Very nice article! Recently I finished my first Japanesene drama (yes, it was Hana Yori Dango :D) and I must admit…
Yup, I so agree. I remember first watching HYD a few years ago. It was also my first J-drama and in the first episode when they introduced F4 I thought they were in no way attractive. But by the end, I thought they were so handsome and then proceeded to find out everything about Matsuda Shota and Matsumoto Jun :D
