now THIS is a romcom

I actually wasn’t planning on watching this, but I just finished up a rewatch of Weak Hero.. so I considered this as therapy since Choi Hyun Wook is leading. I’m no stranger to coming into things blind, and didn’t expect anything out of this other than background noise. To my surprise this drama is seriously entertaining, and the first episode hooked me in the first twenty minutes.

The story I thought was pretty normal for a romantic comedy, what threw me for a loop was the introduction of Ji Yeon irl. They set up the joke so well, with these romantic undertones almost look too good to be true for our FL played by Mun Ka Young. Without spoiling, I can say I see how she wouldn’t like the ML after their first interaction. It’s a great setup for their whole story, which I see playing itself at a nice pace.

The pace of this drama is what makes it enjoyable. Things move quick, not too quick, but even with it being a comedy it isn’t like it is too dumb. It’s got the right amount of wit and character, and is helped by the actors here. There is a lot of charisma with the leads, and they effortlessly are able to fit into their roles that it leads to a stress free watch.

So far so good. I’m happy to be enjoying this one.
