But this drama DOES have a mind-blowing plot. She is a superhero who can taser terrorists and jumpstart a rocket…
What I mean is, even though she has electrical powers, the story doesn’t focus on her using them to save people or anything like that, which makes the drama lighter and more fun to watch.

I agree with you about the casts making it more enjoyable, they definitely delivered. Perfect casting and perfect chemistry.

it’s been a while since i last enjoyed a kdrama with such a cliché plot. sometimes, you just need a kdrama that’s easy and fun to watch. fortunately, chae soobin and kim young kwang had great chemistry, which made it even more enjoyable!

she is just as bad, how many times does she instigate meetups to only do her famous run-offs and be pulled back…
I’m still on episode 11, so I think I’ll understand your take on this better after watching the next few episodes. I’m gonna catch up later!

That’s where I think I disagree, because I don’t think we should blame Ye Pingjun. The girl is just trying to survive the toxicity of their situation and his obsession with her. YCX is really just sick in the head.

disclaimer: im currently on episode 11

gosh, i’m so tired of viewers complaining about the plot as if dramas are always supposed to be rainbows and butterflies. 😭 it has been clear from the get-go that yu changxuan is NOT a good person. he is written to be a morally gray, politically cunning, and strong-willed character who manipulates people to get what he wants. he’s used to always getting his way, and ye pingjun refusing to be tamed by him only makes his character worse because he simply cannot accept that there’s someone he can’t control.

yes, he is toxic, and the way he treats ye pingjun is cruel and inexcusable. i know he loves her, but that doesn’t justify his actions. if anything, his feelings for her only make him more destructive because he doesn’t know how to love her properly, especially with his reputation, their complicated history, and his own deeply rooted flaws getting in the way. he wants her, but he doesn’t know how to be the kind of man she deserves.

and honestly, THAT is what makes this drama compelling to me. i want to see how yu changxuan develops into someone worthy of ye pingjun’s love. will he learn to let go of his need for control? will he genuinely change for the better? and, more importantly, how will he make amends for all the pain he has caused her? i’m looking forward to seeing how the story handles his character development and whether he can actually become a better man, rather than simply expecting ye pingjun to forgive him because he loves her.

just because we enjoy watching a morally gray or downright terrible male lead doesn’t mean we condone his behavior or want someone like him in real life. enjoying a fictional character is not the same as endorsing his actions. fiction gives us room to explore uncomfortable, destructive, and even taboo aspects of human nature without having to approve of them. sometimes, the most interesting characters are the ones who frustrate us, challenge our moral compass, and force us to sit with the uglier sides of human behavior.

as a viewer, yu changxuan frustrates me so much, but that’s also why i’m invested in his story. flawed characters can be fascinating precisely because they reflect real human tendencies, contradictions, and toxic patterns. i don’t need to like who he is right now to be interested in who he might become. and i don’t need to defend his actions to appreciate the story being told.

not every drama needs a likable male lead or a healthy relationship from the very beginning. sometimes, the whole point is watching a deeply flawed person confront the consequences of his own actions. that’s what i’m here for, and i hope the drama delivers on that.

not every kdrama needs a mind-blowing plot and 50 layers of complexity 😭 sometimes i just want a fun, unserious romcom that makes me giggle, kick my feet, and swoon over the leads. why are we acting like a drama needs to be a masterpiece to be enjoyable??? LET ROMCOMS BE ROMCOMS. 😩🫶
