I'm know I'm probably way off with this but every time I see the older ming chef, I think he is her dad's reincarnated…
Cryptic message - The Ming chef already knows that there is a plot against the King since he overheard the Ming Envoy conspirating with an unknown Joseon figure. He can’t expose this directly though since it’s too dangerous but he was hoping that the King would understand what he meant- do not trust the people close to him. Since he knows that the King trusts Yeong, he felt comfortable relaying this message through her.
By the way, to everyone who says this isn't supposed to be a romance - I'm curious, which category is it listed…
I feel like there is romance but it’s slow burn. Imagine a slow cooker kind of love instead of a microwave kind of love😉 They need to truly fall for each other for their eventual parting to hurt us after all🥲🥲.
Also since the king has a reputation for finding many tributes, they need to make his interactions with Yeong feel more meaningful. And in Yeong’s case, since she really needs to go back home, there has to be a compelling reason to stay. Learning that the “tyrant” king is far more than what history has thought her is a good step🙈
Can anybody tell me it's happy ending and sad ending ..I don't want those so called happy ending one reached to…
I’d wait till next week if I were you 🙈 The ending has too many possibilities at the moment. Given the general positive flow, maaaaaay be we might get a happy ending in the future but I’m afraid to keep my expectations high at the moment 🙈
wow, to think the competition was rendered pointless because grandma came to the rescue really left a bad taste…
The king was able to humiliate the envoy and simultaneously prove that not all in Ming is devious seeing as he was willing to trust the chefs’ input.
While we won’t get to see what will happen to the envoy, I’m pretty sure he was more than glad that the chefs wanted to move on - there will be less uncontrollable incriminating evidence when he eventually gets investigated by the Ming emperor when he goes back).
For 10 out of 12 one hour long episodes, it feels like barely anything has happened, romance and plot wise😅
Ep 10 basically gave a foreshadowing of the climax. Everything is now set in motion for the purge to happen. The villains have found the “tyrant’s” weakness - both in fact. Since Plan A (the crown prince’s assassination attempt) failed, they now can either go with plan B (his mother’s death) or Plan C (🔪Yeong).
How dare the king’s uncle lock the king’s grandmother (mother’s side) like that? 😭 I can't stand it when…
Honestly I’m more surprised that he kept her alive at all. She’s frail and old afterall? Not exactly difficult to assisinate her making it look like it was “natural” 🫠
Can’t imagine how this will end given the preview🥲

Looks like ep 10 raised the stakes 🙈
Given the king's reputation of taking many "tributes" even if it's for political reasons, I guess they wanted to make it a slow burn to show just how different Yeong is to him? He loves her but will not abuse his power to possess her?
Honestly I'm currently in denial over the eventual "hurt" ever since last night's preview...really hoping their ending won't be tragic in the future timeline 🙈🙈🙈🙈
I feel that this comment section has been very dismissive of people who expected romance from this drama. I am…
TBF the king cannot just start a relationship with his royal cook. We need to be mindful of the existing political situation within the kingdom (since this is a principal plot point) and standard royal protocol. Not to mention the fact that Yeong wishes to go back home so logically would not want to get entangled in anything that could hurt her (physically/ mentally).
I wouldn’t say there’s` no romance either. The king has made it extremely clear - even to an alarming degree - just how important she is to him. Even Yeong now can sense his change in feelings towards her. Will it end in K-trauma? I have no idea as of now but it’s pretty clear that they will soon reach their “forbidden romance” era.
The food competition in a way reflects the ridiculousness of their situation. The Ming envoy was exploiting his nation’s name for his own benefit. The competition rests on good faith and respect to your own skills. Without even really trying, the King’s wish to expose the truth happened - the envoy kept showing his true colors and even the viper “uncle’s” slimy nature.
That being said, it would have been interesting to see how things would have moved forward if Joseon didn’t win and the royal letter didn’t exist.
why there's only 9 episodes on Netflix? here it says 11 😅
Netflix is testing our patience as usual- try to stay in the honest path and help with the global ratings or embrace the darkness🙈🙈🙈
It's in their contract- the original broadcaster/ principle OTT gets first dibs. That's why most of the ongoing cdramas/ jdramas are far behind in Netflix.
A 2 episode gap isn't bad though considering how we used to wait for months after the drama concludes to have access to WEEKLY episodes 🙈
Sweet ending to the series without the manga um spice. Gonna miss this show sm! Loved the very end where it looked…
Honestly I loved how they didn’t force the intimacy between the actors. A smashing 🔥 kiss and a lot of lovey doveyness is way better than wooden awkward moments🙈
And the way Keishi practically smothered Tojo in that hug?🤭

(I might be wrong though - haven't watched moon lovers for obvious reasons😅)
We have been through too many watered down timetravel endings lately thanks to C-censorship so my expectations might be a bit too high this time

I didn't even know that they will be releasing the bluray🙈
Gosh i hope he reincarnates with his memories in tact in the future🙏
