It isnt a traditional saeguk drama it is a fusion saeguk with tilting more to the romance. And yes ML's character…
it is not a fusion saeguk. sure they are not following a strict historical character, but it is still a saeguk drama. and it's not just the ML getting away - there are so many other characters

The scene that annoyed me was the one where the two boys nearly hit the crown prince with a ball and they were…
that scene was beyond unbelievable. like you are making a decision on behalf of the crown prince? it doesn't work like that!

also, team Hyun because he still respects her position as a CP DESPITE knowing she is a girl. meanwhile the ML continues to act improperly with her not knowing that. who talks back to the CP?

Is this another drama like Mr. Queen where woke western audience are going to make a big deal about sexualities?…
it's netflix produced, so they are already disregarding so much joseon etiquette. it's quite annoying.

I don't understand why other people are not as infuriated by the complete disregard for joseon royal palace etiquette. they are only letting so much bs directed towards the crown prince fly because it is a girl. but most of the other characters are not aware he is a girl, so why are they still openly not following the etiquette? like not bowing down properly, improperly touching them, getting away after openly attacking the crown prince (the uncle? he got away after shooting an arrow at Hwi!! that is treason!) the writer should work more on character development - regardless of the fact that it is a girl, she still hold crown prince position. let us see her fully utilize her authority. stop watering down her character for the sake of skinship moments with the ML. it's basic stuff that is ruining the drama for me

the male cast is pretty good, but the FL lacks so much. she keeps doing things that are simply annoying and doesn't make sense. you want to repay your friend, so you offer to take her place in her marriage, but as soon as the procession starts, she doesn't want to go through with the marriage? why agree to it in the first place??? no one forced her, she offered herself!

EXTREMELY cliche, but it's cute. just here for the main leads cute scenes, otherwise the the 2nd ML and 2nd FL were beyond annoying. ShangKe's character was so irritating and useless to the story, still don't understand why they had a storyline. I would've preferred the secretary have a story.

What are Cdramas that are post Republican but not modern?
yeah, unfortunately they haven't made a post-republican drama that I have been obsessed about yet. But I would like to see a good romance drama from that period.

the ML has so many issues and the FL is unbearably quiet. the saving grace? Pang Han Chen and the 2nd couple.

Would you rate a drama high if it has a meh plot but really good CGI? Then why rate a drama low just because of…
exactly! like the cast is stellar and the storyline is different and interesting. give it a chance

sure the CG isn't the best in the first two episodes, but the storyline and acting are top notch. I like the drama so far.

What are Cdramas that are post Republican but not modern?
there are not as many, a lot of them tend to be movies. All set during the revolution era (pre-modern). On top of my head, there is Battle of Changsha (although it is late republican era), Minning Town, Back in Time, I Don't Want To Be Friends With You, The Bond, Dear Mayang Street, Like a Flowing River, The Year 1987, Like a Flowing River II, and Roving Inspection Team

seen most of the dramas listed - C-dramas have their own charm. I am actually fascinated by Republican era dramas, probably because that is a history I have actually studied quite a bit. I do wish there were more dramas on post republican era as well

this is actually a serious issue across most Asian dramas - the constant lack of consent and the forceful behaviour (the arm grabbing, pushing her, manipulative behavior, etc) is very problematic. thank you for compiling all this. I was actually doing research on gender violence portrayal in Asian dramas during undergrad
