Had you not reminded me that YWS is the main character, I truly would have totally forgotten. I had to reference the cast list to confirm that she's placed before GZY. She is indeed lowkey which is perfect as the ideal spy that she even evades the viewers' attentions.😁

It's interesting that you mentioned who haven't figured out who the main character is. I mentioned in the response above to @liarsh in regard to what if viewers were to watch this drama blind without prior knowledge of the summary blurb or the cast list, would their opinions of GSJ and GZY be a lot different? Right now, it's fair to say that most posters here favor GZY more; his character receives a high ranking on a character popularity metric/ranking on some Chinese board.

I wondered what the viewers' opinions would be had they started this drama blind without access to a summary writeup or cast list. As of now, viewers are biased because they saw the cast list and know who the ML is. Would viewers still judge ZSJ harshly or in better light?

She's higher up. She didn't confirm that she's a Wang, so this mean she's a Liang, which is the highest of the 4 levels. Another member here also agreed she's a Liang when ZiYi said her tea has cooled. The word cool is liang in Mandarin which also sounds like Liang.

In The Great Gatsby, the story is narrated from Nick's point of view. Everything the readers know about is told to us by him, based on what he saw or heard. In his story, the main focus/character is Jay Gatsby.

In MJTY, there isn't a Nick per-se, but we do get a similar feel using several POV's so we can piece the story together. I feel the focus is more on GSJ than GZY. If there's no summary nor cast list provided for MJTY, and the viewers watching it blind would have a different opinion on GSJ and GZY.

Have you ever read a book or watched a movie from someone's POV or narration, but the main character or focus is actually someone else...like in The Great Gatsby? My Journey to You is almost like that. Is this intentional by Guo Jing Ming? Or...is it as he directs and edits the drama, he discovers he likes certain aspects more and delete sources from initially intended materials?

Wow, another great episode!! I was starting to suspect the new elder in the beginning of ep 14, and by the end of the episode, I was shocked!

A member in here mentioned the chinese characters used for chi, mei, wang, liang are all written with a "ghost" character. I interpret "ghost" as alluding to darkness, hidden, evil, bad-force, spy. In Cantonese, there's a slang term for spy/undercover person as "internal ghost." I only know Chi and Mei stand for Beauty which makes sense in referencing the 2 FL's, but also that beautiful women are sometimes cunning and evil. The writer is really creative in picking these words.

No, the later episodes have a lot of talking. If you skip them, you also end up missing out on a lot of details/info. But I enjoy this drama a lot.

I'm also not particularly rooting for any couples. As a matter of fact, who did it and why are also not that important to me for this drama. Strangely, I'm here only for the creativity, visual aesthetics, cinematography, sound effects, and storytelling execution. Only one other Cdrama had I enjoyed it this way.
