What just happened it ep 17?? Im so confused... why did feng chang jump and he was eager to get feng lanxi out…
I believe Feng Chang jumped so that an investigation will take place which will lead to the mastermind of all court chaos (Queen and third prince), ultimately freeing him from his mother's claw, and to save Feng Xi.
So after watching 12 episodes, the drama is definitely much better than expected (no hate). The acting is much…
The FL ‘s white and lighter clothing color is basically part of her character… essentially why she’s called the Bai “ White” Feng XI while the ML is known as Hei “ black” Feng Xi.
Up to ep. 14, and I love no matter how much the villains schemed, the good and righteous individuals always come out ahead. It's so satisfying to watch it unfolds.
Really enjoying this series! I'm not used to seeing Liu Rui Lin play a bad guy though. He always plays such sweet…
He's perfectly casted for the role!! We're so used to seeing him play a much more genteel character that he retains that image. As the third prince, the role calls for someone who's also a mommy's boy type.
After just seeing the trailer, now I need Feng Xi Yun and Feng Qi Wu sismance! I hope they get along really well…
@Reba That's great to know because I like the idea that Qi Wu willingly gives up ML to FL and sees all the good things in FL, and that ML & FL deserve each other and make a great pair. This way, Qi Wu can continue to assist ML long term in court and we don't have to worry that she may one day scheme for FL's fall.
I personally thought it a little anti-climatic. I don't know why, but I was expecting more out of the scene. :(
@RosyWylie I'm in agreement with you that given ML's & FL's characteristics, low key and subtle actions are more befitting of them regarding their identity reveal. I love this director's skill on cinematography and visual, but I wish he employs additional/other techniques that allow us viewers to look into FL's psyche and give us more frames on how she connects the dots up to "seeing the lightbulb."
In wishing for a grand exposure, I don't mean fireworks and drums and for all jianghu/martial artists or unnecessary parties to also be made known of their identities. It's more of a director's skill such as when to use close up camera shots to capture micro-expressions of actors' faces, a quick frame on hand twitching to indicate anxiety, or employ wide-frame to see everyone but miss out on the small details.
I guess another way to explain would be why are some people still scared several days after watching a certain horror movie, but don't react the same way to other horror movies?
It's really not just the story, but also how the director and his sound and production team work together to bring us their creative piece. Thus, I'm still hoping we get that "wow" effect when ML finds out who FL is.

same here. hopefully the director makes up for the soft reveal with a much more grand exposure of when ML finds out the FL's princess identity and that she's his crush from the old days.
Random thoughts of what I like about this drama so far after watching 12 episodes:
- Plenty of classical wuxia fight scenes; - YY and Lusi are well casted for their roles. Hei's aloof and subtle. Bai exudes flair and uprightness. She carries herself like how I would imagine a wuxi jianghu heroine. - Captivating interactions between ML/FL; - Esthetically pleasing wardrobes and hairstyles; - The emperor (ML's father) is fair, not stupid, nor controlled by the empress; - Haven't fast forwarded 1 minute; - Decent pacing; - High budget settings/scenery; - I'm impressed with Bai Lang Hua's performance at her age(she's FL's younger martial sister).
Clue: sign of "weeping sky" at the memorial.
