slow? Im actually dissapointed its not slow ENOUGH. So far they have gone through so many arcs in such few episodes. All these arcs had so many details that were deleted. We have gone through ALOT OF MAJOR events that happened in the novel so quick
There were like 270 chapters. And i think about 105 chapters have been wrapped up in 10 episodes. But ig this gives good room for the remaining 170 chapters story to develop in the next 26 episodes.

nahhh. he needs to get jealous alot. he is in general quite a passionate person. It will be very out of character for him to not get jealous. He is a serious character but when it comes to he yan, he always finds himself doing things he would never do, not even with his closest family
And even in the drama you will notice that when he yan performs her sword dance, his lips curve slightly. But at the banquet, hes sitting coldfaced. This is an aluusion to his character. And obvs a character that passionate will easily get jealous.

In the nivel theres a moment when she uses her chopsticks to put sth in his bowl. He pauses bec noone is allowed to do that but he doesnt ever say anything to her. He doesnt like sweets but if she would give it, he'd take it. She is his first exception to all his rukes and principles. And that is also why he has always been jealous and protective of he yan. And i dont mean protective in a i'll save her way, he knows she can handle herself, but hes protective in a: noone can say anything harsh to her.

I also esp enjoyed how he would get mad and ignore her but she'd coax him and he'd be fine with a few sweet words from her.

i think thats debatlable. The show chose to create comedic effect to show their ridiculousness. They already made this situation serious enough by the scenes where they first discover it, or when the dicussion is going onn and even the tomb they erect for the unamed victims. Personally i didnt find comedic bg annoying at all bec were in he yans pov and he yan has always been a non serious person who ig dramatises things alot

The best part of this novel was how they highlighted that an identity was stolen from both he yan and he rufei. He yan had to do somethings like live with a mask, not call her real parents mom dad and other things to be lowkey so she doesnt expose her identity. Thats why she runs away and turns into a general, to have that little bit of freedom. She gains glory but before she can even claim her title and achievements as her own upon returning to court, her brother returns and he is also a person that has been made to live in hiding and now to keep up the lie he needs to follow the same habits he yan had and is not allowed to be himself, he needs to train martial arts to measure up to this reputation and glory that he yan has attached to the name he ru fei. But it was all about how they both forced into different roles and be what theyre not acted like. He yan remains on the right path, sad but she goes along with the familys decision but he rufei lets his resentment and jealosuy consume him. This is also why he yans rebirth in novel signifies SO MUCH. Because she gets to live not by family but as her own person.
The comments here being negative is mostly because the nivel has covered all plot holes and it was perfect and the changes make it not perfect at all. The drama is still nice but people cant see that and can only hyperfocus on the bad things and the missing logic from the choppy editing

Even He yan never properly knew her master so if theres someone that can treat her poisoned eyes, i dont doubt its the master. And well for plots sake lets pretend and ignore the logistics of this. Im actually more concerned abt how she got bit by the wolf and cant moce at all but suddenly she can hold a rope and be pulled up. Like whered she get that strnegth suddenly? And the way the pthers literally put her arm on their shoulder pressing on her wound and bending it like?? Wasnt she wounded, BIT BY A WOLF that is

Even for the different voice they accounted for it. Basically very very few ppl knew abt the switch. In the drama it feels like the whole household knows but in the novel atleast, only her mom dad, uncle aunt and he rufei and he yan knew. Even her blood sister didnt know. As for the male lead, they knew eachother when they were young like i think 13? when theyre studying together and that too was a short time. Then theyre seperated for years so ml has never seen the general feihong.
Same thing in drama, they have been seperated for many years and he is only seeing general feihong in that moment when his dad died after years and after that obvs he yan and he rufei get swapped again. So thats why he cant recognize her voice and neither can she when they talk in the temple while she is blind.

I literally logged in just to reply to u. Ok so shes not just a nobody recruit. The reason ML goes (which is explained in the book but its hard to explain a inner monologue like this in a drama) is that he has been suspecting her as a spy or someone fishy so he prefers to deal with these matters himself than his subordinates. Plus its night, the terrain is dangerous, now in the book it was soooo much more dangerous that it made sense for someone like xiao jue to personally get his recruits back. Plus as a general he values his soldiers so he would obvs get them bec their saftey is upon him, he cant just leave any new recruit who he 'assumes' to know nothing esp mountain terrain and how to deal with wild beasts there ofc he needs to personally go rescue them.
