sigh ep 9 was kinda hard for me because it confirmed the plotline they were going for and i'm still not completely sold on it. like, why yuka prototype being junji would cause such a huge stir??? i understand when hill felt betrayed the first time he heard it; he is literally their number 1 player and is in parasocialism illusion. but the medias????????? when we think about it logically, yuka game is introduced as a game on the verge of dying on ep 1, so i don't think the media and the community would actually ride on a baseless rumor and make it trending topic 😭😭 dead game didn't have such power 😭😭😭 the math ain't mathing 😭😭😭
also how they handle it was totally utopian lol most game company didn't even address racism allegation or bad update patch, let alone making a press conference to address thing. the most they did was probably a statement release if the situation really demands for it. other than that????? silence..... so yeah junji, trust me, in real world you wouldn't even heard the ripple of that rumor 😭 😭 😭 your name wouldn't even get a scratch lol
BUT i understand that this is an important arc for both junji and hill to get through. literally at the beginning of this episode we saw how art, the creator of yuka, literally refused junji, who he based yuka of. it left a huge pain on junji and made him almost give up on his passion. it bleeds through his demeanor and how he handled love moving forward.
but then we see how hill, the number 1 yuka player, actually accepting the fact that junji is yuka and falling in love with him. it must've been a huge relief that the person junji loves now did not refuse this fact and accept him wholeheartedly. out of everyone, junji must've fear hill's reaction the most. i think he was so ready to repeat the same thing all over again only for hill to reassures junji over and over that he believes in junji and he would never hate him.
so yeah, i love their story, but as a gamer (albeit casual one) who engage with the culture and community, this bit of script and direction of the worldbuilding is a bit shallow and lack realism for me(which might not be that serious for others tho).

i think it's more on the notion that everyone Knows that he likes yuka so much, to the point that he said he's yuka's bf, and junji Knows that fact so him not telling that yuka's model isnt actually jeans make it the lie? like few episodes before, hill believed that jeans was yuka's model.
also the parasocialism and idolism hill has about yuka make yuka= junji a huge deal for him. tbh i dont understand either but thinking from the perspective of a gooner well,,,,,, imagine hatsune miku was actually modeled after the developer (and male at that), some people might actually riot lol

I'M GOING TO COMBUST the confession scene happening between the two couple was great that i forgive the somewhat cringe beach volley scene LOL but also i want to talk how marchu's portrayal of hill in the confession scene and how i was so touched by it. like it legit felt like accumulation of feelings and emotion he had for junji. it felt so pure and real like when he was thanking junji, how he used his eyes and smile to show his feelings, it made me feel all mushy inside. AND JUNJI HAD TO FREAKING ASK "Did you say it to me? Or to Yuka?" like BLUD LOOK AT HIM..... HE WAS ALL OVER YOU........ SHAKING MY HEAD SO HARD.....
THANK GOD hill was being decisive this episode that he just straight up kiss junji. WE CHEERED WE CELEBRATED WE SCREAMEDDDDDDD. i love that the kiss was just so tender and so THEM. i repeated it like 5 times and still fucking cried. it was just sooooo emotional ngl.
