Title Enchanté
Wait what how???
The same actor plays a different character in Baker Boys and has a wife and a daughter in that series.

Well, maybe that's why he got divorced in the first place 😝
True, true, I did think of that too. 😂 And he's probably renting out a part of his house to Lee and the gang , since they all live in the same house.

Since this is apparently happening in the same universe as the Baker Boys, someone should tell Theo that his dad has a whole other family... 🤣

wait im confused, the comments keep saying that the sp and movie is different but this is already at netflix cut…
There is a movie as well. It's only been released in cinemas in Japan so far, so there is no way for the international audiences to see it right now. Once the DVD is out, it might be added to Netflix later on, but we don't even have a DVD release date yet.

I feel the same, broken characters are just fascinating. And thanks for the quote! I haven't read any of his interviews, so it's interesting to learn of his thought process. Now that he'll (hopefully) have more leading roles in the future and more of a chance to choose, I'll have to pay more attention to his projects :)

Yes, it feels like no matter how many times I watch it, I'll always see something I missed, I love how detailed it is. I hope they can keep this level of quality throughout!

Haha it's okay! It's given me a reason to watch it, so I don't mind the spoiler.

Miserable and tragic... Then this role fits him perfectly. Poor Chiaki had a really traumatic childhood. But even with Rihito's experience with such characters, he hasn't had many main roles so far, so I'm very very impressed by how well he's doing in portraying this complex and broken character. I'm really looking forward to the rest of the episodes!

I think this will be a series that requires a second viewing, because so many scenes are multi-layered and we discover things about the characters later on, which changes how we perceive them and reveals their motivation.

Haha it would have been funny is her husband had choked 😂 But I love how the scene built up all that tension and her inner turmoil and then juxtaposed it against his carefree "did you say something~" Ugh I hate that man lol

The airplane sound, like you said, and many others, seem like odd choices and yet they make sense. I think they worked really well in showing the characters' inner feelings. To me it felt like the buzzing in your ears when you feel suffocated and overwhelmed in a certain situation.

Thanks for the rec! The summary would never have caught my attention but I'd like to see Rihito playing a character with aphonia. :)

I haven't seen Rihito in many dramas, but this is the darkest role I've seen him play and he's doing a great job. He can convey so many emotions with his eyes and facial expressions alone. It's very hard to show emotions with no lines without overacting, but he does it so well. And yes, his hand reaching out at the end BROKE me.

I think Chiaki was unhappy while eating udon because it must have been a shock that the mangaka he loved, whose manga literally saved his life, was actually the person he was trying to destroy. So he must have had mixed feelings right after learning that :(

They utilized the gargling sound superbly (as nasty sounding as it was lol). I loved the scene when Shinobu is saying "He's your kid, isn't he" quietly and then louder and louder, knowing he won't hear her but somewhere deep down hoping that he might, with the camera slowly zooming in and showing her seething resentment. Ah, just *chef's kiss*

The acting is incredible! Rihito really impressed me in that last scene. The way the director is using music and sound effects to build up tension and emotion is also fantastic. I went into this with zero expectations, but I'm blown away by this drama so far.

I'm honestly surprised that people are losing their minds and downvoting this drama over infidelity. I had all my bets on the age gap being the issue. But I guess when this gets subbed and more widespread, there will be a new wave of moralists ranting about that.

The drama itself is perfect so far. Wonderful acting, pacing, cinematography, music... Everything is just right. I've read the manga and there are already some big differences in the live action, so I'm curious to see where it will go.

Title My Love Mix-Up! Spoiler
Aoki really pissed me off in these final episodes and the writing seemed to be a bit all over the place. First…
Aoki wasn't mad that Ida was "taking their relationship too seriously". He was mad that Ida told people without thinking about the possible consequences - being shunned or bullied. It's all because he was worried about Ida.

It's unclear if it'll have subs, but they posted an announcement on twitter in English so maybe it will.

Title Bite Me
I think this series can best be summed up by the quote from the series itself, from the time when Aue and Aek visited the gallery together and discussed art:
"Aek: For some pieces, I have no idea what they're about. But for some pieces, I think I understand what the artist is trying to convey.
Aue: Arts broaden our views, help us learn and find meaning. To each their own. People appreciate things differently."
And that's just it. A lot of people watched this and wanted it to be something it's not and then got angry and complained about it not living up to their misplaced expectations. But what this series promised, it delivered wonderfully. It wasn't perfect by any means, the last episode especially felt choppy and focused on all the wrong things, but it was very enjoyable to get a slice of life drama about food with slight, understated romance. The romance is there throughout, but it's in the subtle, unspoken moments and that is a breath of fresh air in the BL world. Now that there are dozens of BLs getting released each year, it would be great to see them try new things, make dramas of many different genres with gay characters, romance is so overdone.
