I wish they'd hired actual Japanese actors to play Japanese characters, or they should have at least avoided having them speak Japanese... Hearing these "Japanese" characters speaking with thick Korean accents is completely immersion breaking. It's not letting me forget that I'm watching actors pretending to be something they're not and it's ruining the series for me.

The fact that you think the friend was straight says a lot about your media literacy and I have no intention of arguing with you. I have my opinion, feel free to disagree and go about your day.

I never said I expected a happy ending, don't put words in my mouth. There is a big difference between a sad ending and going for the "bury your gays" trope. There is a long history of gay characters in media dying right as they start to accept their queerness and that's exactly what happened here. I'm allowed to be at least a little annoyed that in 2023 some writers still haven't moved on from these harmful tropes. It has nothing to do with "modern representation".
I enjoyed watching this and I generally think it's good to have queer storylines on mainstream Korean tv, but this promotes some dated tropes and stereotypes (gay men being weak and sickly, gay love ending in tragedy and worst of all conflating trans and gay issues without explanation, as if there aren't already too many people who think gay men dress as women...) so it isn't very good representation. But, hopefully it'll lead to more, and better, representation in the near future.
You know how when you write something and accidentally delete it, when you try to write it again it's never as good as it was the first time? That's how this script feels like. MSP was great, but trying to re-do it with only minor changes just made it not live up to what it was.
A multiverse story could have been whacky and fun, but instead they just rehashed the same scenes and dialogs. Even that scene in ep. 1 with Ford singing is taken straight from MSP Prom Live (choreo, costumes etc) - where it was done better. And not to be that person, but not even one kiss? Really? SIMM had like 40. Not to mention that even the songs weren't that good this time around.
To be clear, I'm not hating on this. I love MSP and GF and I was looking forward to this a lot, I'm just disappointed. And I did love it, in a way, but I'm aware that's just me being biased and that it's objectively not very good.

The most ridiculous thing is how the police seem to know everything. First they managed to lift the prints in the rain, identify them AND go arrest the suspect all in the same night and now they have "proof" that the truck (that they never managed to catch and therefore have no way of proving what was in it) was used to smuggle drugs. They must be the world's most efficient police. But at the same time, the mobsters are in an abandoned building right under their noses and the whole neighborhood knows about it, but the police can't catch them. 🥴
It's sad how much I was looking forward to this because it was supposed to be an action thriller but instead it turned into a teen romance soap opera. I should have checked who the writers were before starting it, that would have been warning enough.

I was talking about TVING, I didn't realize there were subs on another channel. 🤦♀️ Thanks for linking me! The videos on TVING seem longer though, or are these just split into clips? And could you recommend a Twitter user that posts translations?
I loved this series a lot. It's so much more than a drama about cheating. It's a nuanced exploration of accepting yourself, undestanding others and why one person's "normal" isn't necessarily normal for someone else and why that's okay.
But man, Gaga's subtitles are absolutely AWFUL. Losing some subtle meanings in translation is unavoidable, but these subs are completely and utterly wrong on many occasions. Sometimes to the point that it's baffling. Just one example: actual line: "Hurry it up!", subtitle: "Don't you get it?" 🤯🤯🤯 How do you even... Anyway, those who don't understand Japanese are missing out a lot, and that's a real shame.
This is so wholesome and beautiful, I absolutely love it! As a fan of the manga, my expectations were extremely high but they managed to meet them all, and then some. TBH, I was worried when the cast was announced, but Inukai is really good in this, probably the best I've ever seen him. I can't wait for ep.2!
For those wondering if it will be 4 or 10 episodes, on Rakuten TV Japan the total number of episodes is 10! And since their service is pay-per-view and they're selling a season pack for 10 episodes, I don't think they can mislead the buyers about the actual number, so I think it's safe to assume the total number is 10.
