Wow.
I used to watch many dramas but only finish one or two a year now. A drama has to grip me from the start and be consistently good for it to be worth watching. Also, has to have some sort of redemptive morality to it.
Well, there's a lot of revenge and killing. However, I appreciate the values this drama upholds (namely, take responsibility for your own evil deeds and repent, take care of the common people).
The romance is very minimal, which I appreciate! Those looking for lots of steamy scenes will be disappointed.
Antagonists are portrayed extremely well! As much as I want to hate them, the actors and actresses did a great job!
In the book, ML is supposed to be 9 years older than the FL. IRL, the actress is 11 years older than the actor. In the drama, they mostly seem like the same age. It still works, but I did need to mentally adjust for it.
For those who are interested in reading the book...
- Characters' personalities are consistent between drama and book. (This is very important to me.)
- The book contains an extra 50 chapters of story that is mostly about the ML that does not exist in the drama.
- Many of the scenarios featuring the ML helping the FL in the drama were originally instances where the uncle helped the FL. I think they wanted to increase ML/FL interaction in the drama, so they gave those bits to the ML.
- The drama is more dramatic, haha.
