Here we go, another cheating immature waste if time husband and a childish insecure homewrecker. So fed up of…
i’m sorry for the trauma you may have experienced that has you commenting about this under every kdrama with cheating that you do watch (or so it seems). i’ve been there. i don’t have a problem with it in fictional stories though, for either character development or to deepen the narrative. in this one, it is about character development and asking us to see a character in a multi-dimensional way (i feel). still, to each their own and i support self care around these “triggers”, and what they touch in some of us…. I don’t agree that it is unequivocally a korean drama ethical misgiving, however, as it lives in a more nuanced place in me. as far as i can tell, the subject is treated differently according to the writing/directing team.
i made a generalized comment under a jdrama recently for the overuse (for me) of inappropriate age and power relationships in japanese dramas, and was schooled (no pun intended!) because the tone of my post made it sound like it was a Japanese culture phenomenon, a blanket statement with nothing to truly back it up. i was able to see that since this topic is highly charged for me, and i DO not support this, even in art, it does not mean it translates to the entire country. rather, it was a response from my anger. …AND that’s not to say that the dramas aren’t giving us something we need to look at to grow and heal, something to see and stop ignoring...
this is my recent contemplation, for those that may see this and resonate.
When i feel more anxious than makes “sense” for a fictional piece I take pauses, skip over triggering moments…
That’s because we don't know yet! Im speaking generally, so it might be good to wait a few episodes if you're really concerned and feel it’s too much and come back to it. Up to you, of course ☺️
I know is fictional but I'm just scared of the queen loosing her unborn child, I need help to continue please
When i feel more anxious than makes “sense” for a fictional piece I take pauses, skip over triggering moments and even read spoilers to know whats coming so my nervous system can chill out. Some people like those feelings, i prefer to take it easy with the fear /anxiety, but am all in for the lovey/endorphins when they come up 🤷🏽♀️
so the king knows that spirits are real and shamans can fight them but he already outlawed the shamans and so…
It seems like the law preceded his reign and he is upholding it, but this is not 100% clear as written, rather it is implied (a result of the ‘tragedy’ 13 years before).
Still, I'm with you that his actions are not congruent with the experience/belief he carries. Makes it hard to believe him as a character.
